I think you reached for Wilkerson. I think you have Drew going to late. Don't care for the Fifita pick because of his height. The guy is shorter than Klecko.
I think that Gostkowski could be gotten in the 7th.
Pollard is an interesting pick. I don't know if he's better than what the Pats currently have so I don't know if they would draft him.
21. NE- Chad Greenway LB, Iowa Role player as 3rd down specialist, not a good 1st round value.
52. NE- Maurice Stovall WR, Notre Dame Reach
75. NE- Gerris Wilkerson LB, Georgia Tech 6-3, 231???? Nope.
86. NE- Bernard Pollard S, Purdue 1st day Safety??
106. NE- Maurice Drew RB, UCLA What Db said.
118. NE- Hank Baskett WR, New Mexico Not quick enough, if you take Stovall look for a smurf with PR/KR ability.
136. NE- Joe Toledo OT, Washington Decent here, could lose 15-20 lbs and get quick enough for Dante's system.
191. NE- Steve Fifita DT, Utah Couldn't find the ball in the Shrine Game, played hard, good strength, great hustle, can't find the ball; UDFA only.
205. NE- Steven Gostkowski K, Memphis Best pick out of D1 schools.
206. NE- Cooper Wallace TE, Auburn Good.
229. NE- Rashon Powers-Neal FB, Notre Dame FB! We don't need no stinkin' FB!
Thanks for being a target.

Wilkerson is biggest and fastest prospect at his position.
Greenway was evaluated as a top 15 talent based on performance and slid based on athleticism.
We have the time and patience for him to develop. He is the best choice.
Suppose you can swap the selections a little bit.
I wanted to focus on defense, and grab 2 possession Wrs and fill in holes.
Probably we'll pick BPA and no one can project that.
With post draft cuts we'll balance out the roster.
What I don't want to see is not spending to the cap this year or frontloading seymour or pushing NTLBE incentives (Cap space) to next year.
We have the 7th easiest schedule.
Let's win it all again THIS YEAR!!

Were you looking at height? The determining factor for ILB is weight (Bruschi 247, Vrabel 261, Ted Johnson was 254, Phifer was 250-ish) , by weight, Wilkinson is the smallest - he is a good fit for a 4-3 MLB who needs more speed to cover more ground (1/3 of the field). An ILB is responsible for 1/4 of the field, but doesn't have the big DL shielding him from the big OL, so he needs to be heavier to take the punishment.

Take out Maurice Drew and pencil in Virginia Tech's Cedric Humes. I bet he ends up being our project HB.
nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! humes is just another antoine womack....i really think maroney will fall into the middle 2nd round, and pats will trade up to snatch him

A few things:
1) Most teams are talking about moving Greenway to ILB in the 3-4. If that were to happen, you wouldn't need to take Wilkerson. Who, btw, is NOT the biggest and fastest. I believe that Tim Dobbins at 246lbs is faster than Wilkerson at 231. As Box mentioned, Wilkerson is a better MLB.
2) While I somewhat agree with Box regarding the 2nd WR, I was fine with your picks because DREW is a KR/PR type player.
3) The pats do NOT pick by BPA. They draft by BVA. Best VALUE available. That value consists of team need, a player's tangible and intangible assets, and projected development.
4) You need to take into consideration the Pats current roster. The fact of the matter is that they have like 14 DBs on the roster and 3 emergency DBs in Brown, Childress and Davis. At LB, they currently have Bruschi, Vrabel, Colvin, Banta-Cain, Alexander, Claridge, Izzo, Davis and Beisel. Vrabel, Bruschi and Colving are guaranteed to be starters unless injured. Alexander has been a practice squadder and playes 2 games on special teams before hitting the IR in 2004. TBC and Beisel are excellent special teamers but big ????? when it comes to regular playing time. Claridge was having a good TC in 2005 before he was injured. It was said that he was playing TJs old position. Izzo and Davis are strictly special teamers. I thought both of them would be cut LAST year, but a lot of things happened and they played. And they didn't play all that well. Izzo had 16 special teams tackles in 16 games. Stone had 13 in 9 games. So, I expect Izzo to be on the bubble again.
5) Don't expect there to be a lot of June 1st cuts. Why? Because most teams are under the salary cap by a significant amount right now so they don't need to make the June 1st cuts. NEXT YEAR, you should expect a lot of June 1 cuts. especially with the salary cap going up so little (only 7 million) in comparison to the 16.5-17 million it went up this year.

1)Although your post seems contrary on the surface, I think in general we agree about a number of things. My inspiration for this thread comes from the Patriots Buliten Board contest for draft selection.
I think that Greenway (95 solos, 61 asssits for 156 total tackles. 10 TFLs, 2 sacks. )
and Wilkerson(2005: 85 tackles, 9 TFL, 4 sacks, 2 interceptions, 2 pass breakups
2004: 119 tackles, 17 TFL, 4.5 sacks, 1 interception, 2 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble ) have the most long term value to our team. Potentially with their bigger frames they can develop into super athletes (BVA). Wilkerson is the tallest and faster listed in the NFL link quoted.
2)Drew is the smurf that Box wants.
3)BPA/BVA almost same thing. BB aproaches building the team by value, but in the 2nd and succeeding round of the draft all players can be bargains.
4) My selections were made based upon FA and team needs. Net IMO we most need LBs and WRs, a K,a TE, a QB and camp competition.
5) You are correct, however eventually there must be more FAs cut. Teams are unable to keep more than 53 players.
