For the second year in a row now this is a team that has a need at cornerback and while they didn't sufficiently replace Ty Law a year ago that won't be the case this time around. One thing the New England franchise and Scott Pioli do better than just about anyone else in the league is draft players who fit their system. Last year was a classic example when they reached a little bit for Logan Mankins in round one because they knew he would mesh in well with what they do and as a result he became almost an immediate starter for them as a rookie. Most know that Bill Belichick has close ties with the Fresno St. program due to his relationship with their coach Pat Hill so he is very comfortable taking Bulldog prospects because he knows they have played in a similar system and will assimilate well. Richard Marshall is an underrated player who is just beginning to get the attention he deserves as one of the top cornerback prospects in this draft and New England is said to have a lot of interest in him. While this might be a slight reach the team won't have a shot at him in round two so it's better to pull the trigger a little too soon rather than gamble and lose him. Linebacker has become a major concern for the Patriots as well with age, injuries, and the salary cap really hitting them hard in recent years so that is a possible option here with Kamerion Wimbley and Bobby Carpenter seeming to be good fits. Don't rule out a running back either because with Corey Dillon getting up their in years it sure wouldn't hurt to bring in DeAngelo Williams or Laurence Maroney as both a backup and long-term replacement.

Too good of a value to pass up here and he will eventually be able to replace Corey Dillon

Classic 'tweener who can help replace Willie McGinest at outside linebacker in their 3-4.

Greg Jennings WR | Western Michigan | Scouting Report
David Givens and Andre Davis are both gone and Troy Brown probably doesn't have much left.
