Perfect #3 receiver for us, has the whole package. Good Routes, Hands, goes up and gets the ball, not afraid to go over the middle and good speed. He could also contribute in the return game. Jordan Shipley for #53!

If he fell to the second round, I wouldn't be opposed. I was impressed with Shipley this year. However, I wouldn't be suprised if his value rose to the first round either.

Re: Jordan Shipley in the Second round!
Not for me. He's a slot receiver from what I've seen, a Welker, Stokley type, and seeing that we already have the best in the game, and his possible heir apparent, I don't see a spot.
If we want a proper number three this year, then we're either going to have to take someone like Benn in the first round (because he won't last while our pick in the second - he is insanely talented), or hope that someone like Golden Tate or Damian Williams does fall (unlikely).

Creator of the Pats must draft Jason Verrett in 2014 no matter the cost fanclub.
I can't imagine Shipley cracking the 1st round. He's a slot receiver, pure and simple. 3rd round, most likely, possibly late 2nd.
I don't want the Pats to take a WR in the first 2 rounds. Right now I have Dez Bryant as the only sure 1st round WR. I'd be thrilled to see Rejus Benn, Golden Tate and Damien Williams make the 1st round and possibly push some other guys down to us, either at 22 or at 42/44.

What about Eric Decker?

Why does a number three receiver have to be a first round talent? At 6'0 Shipley isnt just a pure slot receiver by any stretch of the imagination. He can line up all over the field and create mismatches for defenses. YouTube - Jordan Shipley Career Highlights
I swear these days, if your white and you play receiver people compare you to wes welker lol
i love shipley too. would be great. how bout #7 from Bowling Green who played in the East-West Shrine Game. he seems like a guy that just knows how to get open. wonder what his 40 time is
There seems to be a lot of quality WRs in this draft. We need to get a few young ones in here, with Edelman and Tate, to learn from Moss and Welker. That way they will be ready when those 2 are gone.

Yeah, seriously. Like Brian Hartline for Miami. He is 6-2 and runs a 4.50, split out wide. A WR just has to be quick enough or strong enough to get off the line or fast enough to eat up cushion, then exploit coverage. I think Shipley can do the quick fast part against most corners. However, Benn is a no-go. That guy doesn't have talent, he has athleticism. Only seven career TDs? What was Benn doing with that athleticism in the red zone? This all-world "talent" was up against college schemes. Welker caught like 20+ TDs for Tech and he was a RB his first season. In college, good WRs catch touchdowns.
The only WRs I want early (rounds 1-2) are Bryant, Shipley, Gilyard, Tate, Lafell, and maybe Damian Williams. Half those guys may not drop to 22.
Later on I like: Dezmon Briscoe, Freddie Barnes, Mike Williams (troubled but real talent), Denario Alexander(awsome the one year he started) and maybe Blair White (produced well his only year starting).

IDK. I'd feel pretty okay with a receiving corps of Moss and Welker and any four of the following:
Edelman
Tate
Shipley
Blair White
Freddie Barnes
Add in another quick back who can catch like Dexter McCluster and a TE who can catch and block like Quarless and opposing defenses might have to be in dime package on nearly every play. Most "non-Revis" secondaries will still have to put two guys on Moss, but they're screwed either way. Even Maroney could probably get some significant yardage running the ball out of that situation.
