Default 4/22: Rotoworld Mock Draft

Evan Silva, NFL Draft Preview

4/22/2009

Quote:
1. Lions - Stafford
2. Rams - Jason Smith
3. Chiefs - BJ Raji
4. Seahawks - Mark Sanchez
5. Browns - Crabtree
BJ Raji is a huge surprise, with no pun on his physical size. Considering the draft lacks depth at the nosetackle position and Raji is far and away the best at the position, it is almost obvious.

Silva makes a good argument for drafting Sanchez. I'm aboard with the Seahawks pick and off the wagon with the Crabtree to Browns pick. Crabtree seems to be taking a hit.

Quote:
6. Bengals - Monroe
7. Raiders - Heyward-Bey
8. Jaguars - Aaron Curry
9. Packers - Aaron Maybin
10. 49ers - Andre Smith
I guess Curry replaces Mike Peterson in Jacksonville. Either way, they will probably feel fortunate to see him drop that low. With Maclin on the board, I'm sure they will take all the time they are given.

Why do the Packers take Maybin again?

Quote:
11. Bills - Michael Oher
12. Broncos - Everette Brown
13. Redskins - Brian Orakpo
14. Saints - Malcolm Jenkins
15. Texans - Clay Matthews
Bills luck out just as much as the Jags according to this mock draft. Bye, bye Peters. Hello Oher!

Matthews was a forgettably, obvious pick for the Texans.

Quote:
16. Chargers - Tyson Jackson
17. Jets - Jeremy Maclin
18. Broncos (from Bears) - Rey Maualuga
19. Bucs - Robert Ayers
20. Lions (from Dallas) - William Beatty
Good for the Jets. Too bad they still don't have a decent QB to toss the ball to Maclin.

Quote:
21. Eagles - Knowshon Moreno
22. Vikings - Eben Britton
23. Patriots - Connor _______.
24. Falcons - Jarron Gilbert
25. Dolphins - Sean Smith
Geez. I like mocks where Gilbert goes late. Smith to the Dolphins makes some sense. I guess they don't think Darius Butler can cover Randy Moss or Owens.

Quote:
26. Ravens - Hakeem Nicks
27. Colts - Beanie Wells
28. Bills (from Eagles) - Brandon Pettigrew
29. Browns (from Giants?) - Larry English
30. Titans - Peria Jerry
Nicks to the Ravens isn't going to happen. Find me someone to put money down on that because it doesn't click. And if they did, I don't see it panning out. Better continue trying to land Anquan Boldin.

Bills land Oher and Pettigrew. Offense is starting to come together now that Evans isn't going to be doubled, but too bad Lynch is suspended.

Browns screwed themselves by letting the Edwards trade effect their draft selections. I'd take Orakpo and Britt if I were the Browns. If the trade fell through, you still have Orakpo rather than being stuck with two WRs (assuming the trade happens on draft day).

Quote:
31. Cardinals - Donald Brown
32. Steelers - Vontae Davis
I still want to know what the Cards do with Edge James. At first thought, I think he should go to Houston and split carries.

Steelers can probably keep Davis in line just like I think the Pats or Colts could keep Harvin in line. Davis has huge value right here and Darius Butler gets a pass to round 2. Reminds me of when they took Heath Miller late in the first round because he had talent and was nearly top of his position.

Business Time: Final Mock

I'm with you on this, slash...... No way, no how!

1st round HAS to be a proven commodity! Barwin simply isn't.......

I really would love to see a move-up for Jenkins but it won't happen.....dang it!

Well I disagree with that statement.

Crabtree & English

vs.

Orakpo & Britt

No contest! You take the best WR and the most consistently productive DE.

I can't see the Pats passing on Wells and Pettigrew - two (super?)stars in the making - for a guy who's unproven and just learning his position. Wells would be a freakish addition to an already powerhouse O. Pettigrew would finally give Brady the real threat down the middle he's never had, not to mention ending the middling blocking we get from the TE spot too often.

Either one of these two players would change the team more dramatically than anyone following them in this draft. That's why we'd take one of them or trade down - there would have to be 6-10 teams or more who would trade up to get Wells that late in the first.

If Curry falls to Jax at 8 I hope we offer 23 + 58 + 124, which is equal to what Jax gave up to move up to #8 last year, and take Curry. Then, ideally, Barwin falls to 34 and we are set at the LB corps.

Assuming Jax wouldn't want to take him. I'm starting to be more and more convince (hopeful) that the Pats will move up for one of the three: Curry, Raji, Jenkins.

Oh my! Pretty soon you're gonna have us trading our entire board for the #3 overall! Chillax, there's just a couple more days to go!

I hope so. And keep 34 and 47 to use on an OLB and either an OL or a S. All 3 would be immediate impact players.
