I gotta wonder though... what kind of parents name their kid "Bear"? Or is that just a nickname. Kinda funny though. Tiger did turn out ok...

You get a nickname like Bear when you're 6'6" 250 in high school...as a quarterback. Pascoe's real name is the far, far less macho McKenna.

Like everybody else on this board, I have mentally penciled him in as the second calf-roping Fresno State Bulldog on the Patriots' 2010 roster.

Ok I've been thinking, reading, and watching some more. Here is my updated list....for now..... I've spiced it up a bit with us trading Minnesota Cassel for a 1st rounder this year and a second next year.

#23: (from MIN) - Brandon Spikes - ILB - Flordia
#24: William Moore - S - Missouri

2nd round:

#48: (from SD) Darrius Heyward-Bey - WR - Maryland
#56: Max Unger - OL - Oregon

3rd round:

#88 DeAngelo Smith - CB - Cincinnati
#97 (comp pick) Jarron Gilbert - DT - SD State

4th round:

#120: Bear Pascoe - TE - Fresno State

1st round:

#24: Duke Robinson - OG - Oklahoma Not sure what you see in him that makes you believe he'd be a good fit for the Pats Offense. They look for good mobile O-linemen. Particularly in their guards.

2nd round:

#48 (from SD) Rashaad Johnson - S - Alabama
#56 Fenuki Tupou - OT - Oregon To raw of a prospect. I don't believe he's an upgrade over any of the OTs on the Patriots.

3rd round:

#88 Mike Mickens - CB - Cincinnati Mickens is going to be off the board long before the 3rd round.
#97 (comp pick) Jarron Gilbert - DT - SD State Where do you picture him fitting into the Pats line-up? He's 20 lbs lighter than any of the other DEs that the Pats have. And he's not a good NT project.. .

4th round:

#120: Bear Pascoe - TE - Fresno State I like this pick cause it fits into the Pats philosophy
If Mickens fell to the 3rd round, it would be because of a huge red flag.. And then the Pats would probably shy away from him.. The rest of the draft, other then Johnson and Pascoe doesn't seem to really fit the Patriots.

I wondered who's been stealing my thoughts! I like this draft a lot.

haha.. Well I got on board the Unger train recently. I like his partner Tupou too, but with more watching and reading Unger seems to be more well rounded. Always a plus.

Mickens in the 3rd round does seem a little optimistic so I scratched him and went for Smith, although I like Domonique Johnson too, but maybe a round later.

Jarron Gilbert, with a little added weight/muscle. Reminds me a little of Seymour. Great burst off the line. Good prospect with great talent for the future. YouTube - Jarron Gilbert 2008 Senior highlight tape

Heyward-Bey may not last till the second round if he runs as fast as he may at the combine, but if he does I really like this kid. While WR is not a glaring need right now... it may be in a couple years.

So do I -- so much so that I'll allow that 2nd-round WR.

I read the whole thread. And commented on the first..

In your second attempt, you still had 2 players who I question how they fit into the Patriots line-up. The DT from SD State and the OT from Oregon. In your 3rd iteration, You still had the DT from SD State.

Where do you see him fitting in? He's about 20 lbs light for DE in the Pats system... Do you see him dropping 20 lbs and playing ILB?

Gilbert, who I addressed a few posts above, I see putting on a bit of weight and being a Seymour style player. I believe he is a solid DE/DT in our system within a couple years or sooner. I don't think he is fast enough to play ILB, and we don't need another OLB in my opinion. We do need some depth on the D line though.

Oh and I was actually wrong on the School.. it's San Jose state on the DT....I got mixed up with O'Connell's school.
