Doubt it, in 4 years there will be even fewer rich old white men to vote republican, can't see any republlican winning with a "coalition" that looks exactly like Mitt Romney.
Want to see the "coalition" the republicans have put together, go look at the class picture of the republican house leadership, might as well be a klan meeting, with one woman to take minutes, of course.
guess you never heard of the adage 'money changes everything' betcha mark zuckerberg was a hell of alot more liberal 10 years ago than he is now

Good point, there's another vote for Santorum in 2016. On the other hand they have lost the Hispanics, lost the black vote, completely lost the under 30 vote and millions more will voting in 2016, and women are going to vote for Clinton like Blacks voted for Obama. Not a pretty picture for the crazies.

I'm not sure your typical woman is a big fan of hilary
dems should hope that the fiscal cliff does not happen.....
if it does, I know the republicans will look bad, but after a political disaster like that plays itself out, you can count on the republicans heading back towards the middle and putting in a popular effort that will make things much harder for the dems in a long haul.
as much of a 'mandate' libbies would like to think the obama election was, in all reality, the republicans were 'one issue away' in that if they were pro choice, they likely would have won the election.....the dems have to look at it in those terms.....every perspective is temporary

I honestly think republicans have dug themselves in a hole too deep to climb out from. They are senseless and everyone sees that moreso than ever. Ivan is right, Republicans have lost themselves and most of the potential votes with it.
Crazies was a good word.... Todd Aiken, Richard Mourdock, Ann Coulter and even Mitt Romney were good examples of how bad the party has gotten over these past few years. I know the "out of touch" line is cliche' but its the darn truth. These people continue to damage the party and what it once stood for.

bah...nothing lasts....
I understand your logic, but neither side is above screwing themselves. nothing is more off-putting than the arrogance of a liberal.....

the same perception that has GWB actually vacationing every single one of those 1000 or so days he spent in crawford, tx even though he had meetings with 17 foreign heads of state as well as countless other government meetings during his 'vacation' time.
All of which could have been done from the Whitehouse rather than spending $20 million on flights to and from Crawford.

I already predicted that some intelligent conservative republicans are going to separate themselves from the crazies, that's why there is a major schism coming in the republican party, because batsh.t crazies like Santorum, Bachmann, Gomurt and the rest aren't going to moderate at all, and in fact they are going to treat those who do move back to the center as heretics and call for even more purification of the Party. And here is even more bad news for any intelligent conservatives who are worried about the impact of the crazies on the party and its future, Jim DeMint was named the head of the Heritage Foundation, which is a clear sign for the direction that major republican "think tank" is heading, and the senator chosen to lead the republicans senate campaigns for 2014 is a hard core tea bagger who will be looking for even more hard right challengers to incumbent republican senators, a dynamic that has already cost them 6 seats and the majority in the senate.
If you are saying that the republicans would be wise to learn a lesson from the last election and moderate their policy positions and start actually working to resolve the problems this country is facing then I agree, however if you are saying they are going down that road as a party I don't think you could be any more wrong and their current actions and the signs pointing forward back that up. Right now all of the names other than Jeb Bush that are being floated as top republican candidates for the republican nomination are crazies like Santorum, Ryan, Rubio, and Rand Paul. All are tea baggers and all are unelectable in any national election.
Actually I would add Christie to that list, and he would probably give them their best chance as he isn't completely nuts and is electable, but with their old rich white coalition it would still be a hell of an uphill battle, and i doubt he could win their nomination given the extreme positions any candidate has to take to get that nod.

While on one of his many Crawford vacations W completely ignored the National Security briefing that told him extremists were going to crash planes into buildings in america in August 2001, a matter of weeks before 9-11. However he did get a bunch of brush cleared up in the back yard, good for him, really productive. Laziest president ever, no contest.
