"When you have ruled out the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbably, must be the truth."
Hidden "Aha" moment, PR. Have you eliminated all explanations other than "Obama wants to have a nuclear war so he can groove on the rubble"?
I think you could also explain the world's events by developing an understanding of them. That means getting out of the little onesie-twosies somebody sends around an email about or posts on the PatsFans board.
You don't even reference what you actually think indicates that Obama's trying to provoke a nuclear exchange... You just say "Am I crazy, or is Obama trying to start a nuclear war?"
Just to get an idea of what stops are on the crazy train this time around, yes, I would like to hear about the connecting tissue here. But I'll warn you, I'm pretty sure I'll be an unsympathetic ear (but you knew that.)
On the other hand... you really don't want to spout something you can't defend (all past history to the contrary notwithstanding.) So... why did your long walk end in "maybe the president wants to kill everybody"?

When one has thoughts, as I did in this case, one doesn't have any connecting tissue nor rationale for those thoughts. They just come naturally to most people.
Now maybe you stop your thought process and try to inject facts, but that just stops any natural thought process.
Creativity is never based in logic. My personality is more that of an artist than an engineer. And that's fairly common of addictive personalities. I typically think outside the boundaries of logic.
Side note...I was initially an art major in college.
Finally, although I had these thoughts, I didn't say I believe they're true. More like..."imagine if this was actually happening?"

One of your more interesting posts. It begs the question, "to what do we attach the appelation, 'thought'?"
I think in the dark ages, all thoughts were what you call "thought" above. Now we're in the habit of mind of checking our thoughts against known facts... And indeed, as adults, we're trained to quickly sort out the contrafactual bits very quickly.
I think that when I was younger, I was much freer with random speculations like you describe. You pay a price in habit of imagination, but you also don't introduce random speculation into what should be organized preparation.

Please don't be foolish enough to insinuate anyone who doesn't have your thought process is either in the dark ages or immature....you're too bright for that.
I"ve always allowed my random thoughts to flourish. Don't see any negatives about doing that. If you excercise vigorously, then you know that's when many people do their best thinking. Something about the extra blood-flow in your brain affects your thinking.
I was taking a 4 mile walk when I had these thoughts.
You may not allow it...I and others do. No right or wrong way and we both prolly enjoy "Our way". Such is life I guess...

I was more lamenting the fact the I don't go down such imaginative flights anymore, PR. Every now and then I am sincere. However, I am glad that I don't come up with stuff like this thread either. You take the good with the bad.
Of course, the sweet spot is the imagination flourishing, yet with the post-facto filters engaged.
Between the walk and the keyboard, many embarrassingly incoherent thoughts may die. The question is whether any strokes of genius do as well. From what I've seen here, that question would not keep me up at night.
By my visits here, I could not say I've ever seen Icy lurching to one side or the other, and certainly haven't seen him putting his thumb on the scale. I realize that virtually any kind words for Icy is just "a liberal defending a liberal," from the point of view of the extreme right wing. On the other hand... who cares? It's a distortion machine.
I was in Wistah today ... good old Main Street in Wistah on a cold blustery day.
Something about the sight of all the rail cars ... always makes it seem colder than what it is.
