The purpose of an assault rifle is as the name implies to assault someone.. there is nothing defensive about it.

Each child was shot two or three times, how much does an kindergarten child weigh 40 pounds maybe.. what a joke that you folks defend this..

Some were shot up to 7 times.. Hope Lanza did not get "massacre fatigue"...

Guess who came up with the name? Gun owners don't go gee, "I think I'll buy me an assault weapon today!" - it was anti-gun folks who created it. To most gun owners the term "assault weapon" is meaningless.

That has nothing to do with an assault weapon. And to claim because I'm pointing out the flaws in your argument is equivalent to defending a physco shooting kids is pretty sick.

And here we go with this again. You don't even know what the term means, yet you pretend your an expert and "confront" your nephew about it. Like I said, he made the right choice in not talking to you.

The Massacre fatigue being discussed in the video game article you linked to is talking about keeping the game interesting, rather than just bored with endless waves of enemies like in old games.

qj.net/qjnet/news/homefront-lead-designer-on-familiarity-massacre-fatigue-and-risk-taking.html

"The way to think about the "massacre fatigue" problem is not so much that we've set out to solve it completely in this game - because obviously if you play through a 30 minute level and get only five or six kills that isn't going to be satisfying and I doubt you could sell that to the mass market," said Homefront lead level designer Rex Dickson in a CVG interview.

"The challenge for us was to solve that problem without breaking the formula of what an FPS is," he continued. "The way we solve it isn't by reducing firefights to long engagements where you can't see where the enemy . Instead, every two or three minutes we break up core combat with a moment, be it a story moment, a drama moment, spectacle moment or vista moment. Right at the point where you're starting to think "oh God, another wave?", it stops and you get a moment. We never want you in core combat for too long before we move you to the next big thing."

Yet you've taken this to mean somehow the game is trying to get people used to killing humans.

It matters because one is more efficient and much quicker than the other....and the reports are that all the victims were shot with the rifle and that the handguns were not used.

Probably because he knew which would work best and fastest.

This cannot be defended..

Your beloved NBC is reporting that only handguns were brought into the school, and that the assault rifle was left in the car.

What's your comment about that report? Any insight on what gullable people will believe?

No, they're saying that one assault rifle was brought in and one was left in the car.

The coroner has said the following:

Quote:
More on what the state's chief medical examiner told reporters minutes ago in Newtown: He said the "rifle" was used in the shooting, and that the rifle caused all of the wounds that he knew of.

He didn't say what that rifle was, but a law enforcement source has previously said that the gunman was found dead with next to three guns: a semi-automatic .223-caliber Bushmaster rifle and two pistols made by Glock and Sig Sauer.

The medical examiner, H. Wayne Carver II, said he personally did postmortem examinations of seven victims' bodies.

“All the wounds that I know of at this point were caused by the one weapon,” Carver said.

I stated in this thread to please keep the gun debate in the gun thread out

of respect for the victims and their families ... even politicians are saying this

at that time ... I am going to remove them from here out ...

post them in the gun thread.

This thread is for sympathy and the discussion of the crime only.

Thank You

I've read the the Westboro Baptist nut jobs are going to Connecticut to "protest" the funerals.

I really hope the media just ignores them, do not put them on camera, do not put their pictures in the paper, do not interview them. Either that or they get run over by a steamroller.
