Suggs ordered to disarm, and we're not talking bicept
On the heels of last week's tragedy in KC Belichick said on Monday that while what transpired hit harder here because of friendships, the incident sent shock waves across the league because every team is dealing with these situations.
Suggs and his former fiance (and mother of his 2 kids) have been having their own domestic issues and as a result he was ordered to surrender all of his legally owned weaponry. Good idea. You would like to think that what transpired in KC would send a message throughout the league that nothing is worth that. Unfortunately we have seen in other areas that as a group, despited repeated examples, players are often in denial when it comes to their own conduct and situations, on and off the field.

So he can only beat her with a bat, stab her with a knife, or, strangle her with his arms?
Seriously, this is *****ing stupid.

By that kind of thinking, I guess the insane and violent ex-cons should be permitted to possess firearms?
I'm firmly in favor of gun rights -- but not unlimited gun rights -- and am probably going to buy my first guns soon, but I don't see anything stupid about removing firearms from situations like this.

Guns have one purpose. I hate that purpose.
Also, I like Brandon Spikes.

Suggs doesn't need a weapon of any kind. All he has to do is turn the lights on and his face will do the rest.

Just pretend that nobody was ever killed before the invention of the handgun, and it will all make sense....

So in other words, a quarter of his firearms?

Re: Suggs ordered to disarm, and we're not talking bicept
90% of adults who have committed murder had, prior to that murder, a criminal record as an adult, with an average of 4 committed felonies. A "criminal record", by this analysis, does not include things for which no arrest is made, like a simple traffic ticket. A large majority of those murderers committed their crime with a firearm they had purchased.
This compares to <10% of the general population who have a criminal record as adults.
Thus you can very dramatically reduce the gun murder rate by simply denying those individuals who have a conviction of any type from owning any firearm for a defined number of years, adjusted depending upon the crime and on whether it was a repeat offense.
This presents no constitutional issues, since your own previous actions are what had led you to be denied the opportunity to legally own a gun.
I know in most states felons are not supposed to be able to buy guns, but there appears to be enough loopholes that such restrictions are currently ineffective

The inability to possess a firearm would definitely stop a professional athlete from killing his wife if he so pleased.
