The hell with this lets get rid of Santa Claus Merry CHRISTmas.
The three wisemen stepped into the barn where Mary had just delivered a baby boy, one of the wisemen tripped and slid on a piece of sheep shlt, he yelled out "Jesus Christ" Joe said, I like that, we were going to call him Vinnie.

PFIEL, someone here, don't know who, once went on this big jag about "heritage Jews," i.e., those who aren't especially religious but identify strongly with their Jewish heritage. Generally, the term is a ploy to paint anybody not committed to medieval Jewish garb and interpretation as "not really Jewish."
Welp, I'm usually one of the targets hereabouts of that description... but even I felt it was an enormous chutzpah for the majority to foist its worship through the schools on people who just aren't in the church.
I'm glad you came out relatively unscathed.
Now ask yourself: were good Christian children made to sing songs about the birth of Odin, how would the parents react?
We need vouchers, and school choice asap. Of course, the teachers union, the pols they whore for, and most moonbats fight tooth and nail to oppose them. Heaven () forbid parents actually get to send their kids to the school of their choosing, as opposed to being forced to send them to these government run lemon factories. Teach 7 years old homosexual fairy tails and they call the cops if you protest, yet "A Charlie Brown Christmas" gets banned. What a joke of a country we've become. Our eventual implosion, in many ways, can't come soon enough.

"The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him." Leo Tolstoy, 1897
so much for tolerance......these clowns would have no chance surviving in my neck of the woods.....the irish and italians have been in step with the jews around here, dressing everything up for the holidays.
I think the concept of freedom and tolerance is falling by the wayside. we are supposed to tolerate and appreciate all perspectives, but everytime an atheist pops out of a hole, it is only about intolerance.

Starting a discussion with such a faulty premise will lead nowhere. Public schools are clearly not a two way street politically, and the only people without opposition are the lefties. Force feeding every kid Al Gore's propaganda film on Global Whatever-It's-Called-Now should have removed any doubt about that.
Wow, I lowered my expectations in a response to Harry and recieved an equal response from 60Pats.................
I wasn't trying to get in the same old war on Christmas debate. I started this thread to get a rise out of wistah with his well known humorous Santa schtick and to point out the real outrageousness of actually forbidding festive decorations and traditions like Santa, poinsettias and decorated trees because some do gooders are afraid it could be misinterpreted as religious. Santa is now a separation of church and state violation? Really? Poinsettias are? Really? I'm not sure atheists are behind it, but whoever they are, they sure seem to be afraid of them.

There are thousands of schools in the US in diverse communities with many different values. It appears you are passing judgment on public schools based on what is going on in a handful of individual schools. To my way of thinking, that would be like judging all slumlords based on the behavior of just one.
I don't want my tax dollars directly or indirectly supporting education at madrassas and other bigoted religious schools. I also support the idea that we have a means of teaching people about an American culture, ethics, and value system. Our public school system is the one common denominator for most Americans, and most Americans are pretty satisfied with the education they received.

I remember being in elementary school art classes and making menorahs at the same time we made Christmas trees and snowmen.
I was one of the only Jews in my school district, teachers would ask me to explain Jewish holidays to the class. Everyone was very accommodating.

No Christmas trees, poinsettias, nativity scenes or Charlie Brown.
They will be going after football next.
The Muslims will protect the pigskin footballs, so Highschools alll around
the country will not be allowed to play football.
Give it time..... Somebody will address the issue.
