Mid terms....I look forward to the Republicans making significant gains in the House and recapturing the Senate.

Yeah. About that...
I didn't think he would win easily. In fact, in this forum I clearly stated well before the election that he would lose, Elizabeth Warren would win, and that Republicans would continue to control the House.
History is clearly on the side of the party not in control of the Presidency in the mid-terms. Far fewer people vote during the midterms and they tend to be older and "whiter". That's one of the reasons why Obama was historically annihilated in his first mid-term (along with Obamacare). Why, with significantly less support this past election, would u expect a better outcome for Obama in his second mid term than his first?

Well, you must have been the only sane wingnut then because PF13, Triumph, Patradamous, et. al were all sure the polls were wrong and that Obama was going to lose.

I'm aware of the historical significance of midterm elections. Though I think it rather presumptuous (even before I've had a chance to examine the Senate races that are up in 2014) to predict the Senate will flip.
Obama will have a better outcome in 2014 because the economy will be in significantly better shape than it was in 2010. That's really all there is to it.

Talk about being presumptuous....lol. If you are aware of the historical ramifications of mid terms then you'd know that it is very reasonable to expect a 6 seat pick-up for the Republicans in the Senate and a 28 seat pick-up in the House. In fact, if you look just at Democratic Presidents in their mid terms they lose even more seats than Republican Presidents on average (33 versus 21).

Looking at the races up in 2014, I simply don't see it happening. Unfortunately for you, the Republicans won't be able to run against the backdrop of the financial collapse this time, either. And if the economy isn't stagnant, the GOP's entire platform of "let's oppose anything Obama tries to accomplish" won't resonate as it did in the past.
I do agree that the GOP is likely to hold to the House for the foreseeable future; they've been quite capable in gerrymandering themselves into an advantageous position in the lower chamber.
