I have never met an expert, who knows so little about so much.. and believes that because he has heard something, it is automatically true..

Overcoming addiction is a matter of self control, only shows that you have 0 credibility about anything.... and if you do not understand the correlation about mental illness and homelessness, then you do not know very much about this population..

You also seem a tad hung up on the whole sexual proclivity and urges thing..

I worked with the homeless for 5 years....just about every week. Not just during the holidays....all year long.

For some reason, you seem to think that you know more than I do about the homeless yet I have not heard you mention how long you have worked with them. I'm going to guess by your answers that your experience is quite limited if you have any at all.

I stand by what I experienced. I know what I saw and heard. I saw the constant fights, selfishness, ingratitude, sloth, and deceit.

The funny thing is that I saw another Crossroads RI ad for the homeless. In the ad, you see this pretty blonde white girl with a great big frown on her face. That's who the homeless advocates want you to see as the face of the homeless. But if you want the truth, go to Crossroads RI on the weekend and that will give you a better idea of the truth. Look at all the garbage that is left around that place and strike up a conversation or two. See if you can find that pretty little white girl there.....lol.

Yah couple problems there.

First of all, they come here to do the work you won't. Ergo, the great problem of homeless illegal aliens, though very likely exacerbated by the problems of getting work without documentation versus with, is probably a tad on the overblown side.

Well gee, I wonder if undocumented workers pay taxes... other than property and sales taxes, which in fact do fund a great deal of local services... hmmm seems there's north of 7 billion going into social security from these "leeches"...

You guys are just petrified that someone, somewhere, is getting some help when they're in dire need.

Throw in "they may be brown people" and it's like your house is on fire or something.

Look on the bright side, cons: if they're homeless and collecting "$$$ Free Stuff" it means in all likelihood that they're not "stealing" any jobs.

We should be concerned with picking criminals out of the immigrant population and otherwise providing an easy and fast path to citizenship for those who want it.

It's what built this country. Any of you who are descended from immigrants should know this. A few generations ago we didn't have this absurd quota system, and the country outbuilt, outgrew, and generally out-thrived every country on earth.

You think we should be a country of crybabies, entitled because of our skin color and language (face it, that's what's behind this)?

Or, to uphold your pathetic transparent ruse, by nation of birth? What did you do to earn all the perks you claim entitlement to? Choose to come out of the womb in this rich nation?

Stop acting like you've got a birth-right to better treatment than others have access to. Start thinking of it as a win/win, and maybe cons will have a little better luck in future elections.

This perpetual search for the Other is as nauseating as it is tiresome.

1.) Illegal Immigrants do the work that Americans won't do:

This analysis tests the often-made argument that immigrants only do jobs Americans don’t want. If the argument is correct, there should be occupations comprised entirely or almost entirely of immigrants. But Census Bureau data collected from 2005 to 2007, which allow for very detailed analysis, show that even before the recession there were only a tiny number of majority-immigrant occupations.
Among the findings:

•Of the 465 civilian occupations, only four are majority immigrant. These four occupations account for less than 1 percent of the total U.S. workforce. Moreover, native-born Americans comprise 47 percent of workers in these occupations.

•Many jobs often thought to be overwhelmingly immigrant are in fact majority native-born:

◦Maids and housekeepers: 55 percent native-born
◦Taxi drivers and chauffeurs: 58 percent native-born
◦Butchers and meat processors: 63 percent native-born
◦Grounds maintenance workers: 65 percent native-born

2.) Illegal immigrants pay taxes:

Sure, but what do they cost the US. Aside from the $23 billion a year that gets shipped out of the USA and goes to Mexico (and won't help the US) then there is the education cost, the medical cost, etc at both the federal and local levels. It is estimated that the US loses $100 billion a year because of illegal immigration.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill last week that seeks to end the practice of illegal immigrants getting child tax credit refunds. Attention was brought to the issue after an investigative report by a local television news station went viral on the Internet.

Illegal immigrants are fraudulently taking advantage of the federal income tax's child tax credit to the tune of $4.2 billion per year, reported Bob Segall of WTHR, an NBC affiliate in Indianapolis, Ind., on April 26. Since even those who do not pay takes can receive the credit, illegal immigrants have found that they are able to receive $1,000 per child from the federal government by filing taxes.

In some cases, though, the fraud goes even further. Segall found cases in which undocumented immigrants were taking the tax credit for nieces and nephews for whom they are not legal guardians and do not live in the United States. Some received more than $10,000 from the federal government.
