Default Democrats Trying to Win the Vote of the Anti-Abortion Voters

I'm not the overly religious type ... but after reading this I don't understand how Obam can call himself a Catholic ... he must have his own version. He is the #1 most pro-abortion senator in D.C. according to the pro abortion people.

Why this is an issue is because his platform is trying to appease voters who do not like McCain and are looking for a reason to vote for Obama. For many women ... his pro-abortion stance is all that stands in their way.

Here is what Obama said on the Senate floor that day in opposition to the bill:
There was some suggestion that we might be able to craft something that might meet constitutional muster with respect to caring for fetuses or children who were delivered in this fashion. Unfortunately, this bill goes a little bit further, and so … this is probably not going to survive constitutional scrutiny. Number one, whenever we define a pre-viable fetus as a person that is protected by the equal protection clause or other elements in the Constitution, what we’re really saying is, in fact, that they are persons that are entitled to the kinds of protections that would be provided to a — a child, a nine-month-old — child that was delivered to term. That determination, then, essentially, if it was accepted by a court, would forbid abortions to take place. I mean, it — it would essentially bar abortions, because the equal protection clause does not allow somebody to kill a child, and if this is a child, then this would be an antiabortion statute.

Here is the bit on the the platforms stance:

The party's platform supports the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling that made abortion legal and adds a twist, saying the party ``strongly'' backs a woman's decision to carry a pregnancy to term. The compromise language is the result of behind-the-scenes negotiations with abortion-rights groups and religious leaders on both sides of the issue.
The idea is to frame abortion as less of an either-or issue by discussing both the need to keep abortion legal and the desire to provide programs for expectant and new mothers. It may help Democrats woo evangelical Christians, a core Republican constituency that backed President ] by a margin of 77 percent in 2004.
``Voters that this will win over are those that are looking for an excuse to vote for Obama,'' said a Florida pastor who helped with the language and said he is a ``pro-life'' Republican. ``They just needed one signal that, if I vote for him, more babies can be saved than if we keep wrangling over whether Roe v. Wade is going to be overturned.''

Here is the bit on the the platforms stance:

He doesnt call himself a Catholic. He calls himself a Christian.

in any case, Im a Christian, I oppose abortion, but im voting for Obama because I agree with him on more issues than I agree with McCain.

Christians are also concerned with how we treat the poor, elderly, healthcare, matters of war and peace, the environment.

its not like McCain is going to do a thing to end abortion.

I agree, not that McCain is on the right side of every issue, I just think Obama is dead wrong morally on each issue you mention. It just disgusts me how many people this guy can fool.

Do you believe he is the messiah? Feels more like the anti-Christ.

I also keep waiting for people to wake up but the more time goes by with Obama maintaining his 6 or so point lead the more I accept that you can fool most of the people most of the time.

WHat a lie by the rats, anything for a vote I guess.

BO is the most radical pro abortion candidate to ever run for President.

"How does (Miami-Ohio offensive lineman Brandon) Brooks not get invited to the combine? How did Vollmer not get invited to the combine? I don't know. We can't really worry about that. We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."

I don't think a person who supports 2nd and 3rd trimester abortions has the right to call themself a Chrstian. IMO even 1st trimester for that matter but I agree that 1st trimester is at least debatable. In any case ... he is a false Christian if he supports abortion and he supports it more than anyone else in the Senate.
