GOP is at least starting on the right track ... rubio is probably their best bet right now. so get him out there ... get him into the MSM loop early. In the meantime don't become baggage for him. Work with Obama and get some things going in the right direction for the country. Make it synonymous and not separate.
In his speech, Rubio weaved together the personal and the economic. He discussed the importance of a stable family life to a stable economy, and how critical the success of the middle class is not just to the country’s financial situation, but also to its place in the world. American exceptionalism, Rubio said, is important to every nation, not just the United States.
“The way to turn our economy around is not by making rich people poorer; it’s by making poor people richer,” Rubio said.
The Florida senator talked about the need to improve the country’s immigration system and develop a path to citizenship for some illegal immigrants. He also emphasized the importance of education reform, which he said is necessary to ensure that future generations are competitive in the global economy.
“People understand that we need to do something to address those issues, and they want to do that in a reasonable and responsible way,” Rubio told the crowd.

In the 1960s, the Democrats had to contend with their racist right wing Dixiecrats and the ascendancy of minorities. Democrats chose firmly to reject the Dixiecrats and go with the equality for people of color. It was a decision that fundamentally changed the face of the United States, not only for blacks, but for Hispanics, women, gays, disabled, and other minority groups, but for the majority as well. It also led to a reaction in the form of the Reagan Democrats, the religious right, the Tea Party, and other powerful groups.
Now the Republicans face a similar problem to that which the Democrats faced in the 1960s. If they embrace immigration reform and other Democratic ideas, they risk losing not only their far right element, but their libertarians as well. If they don't find a way to embrace those issues, then they risk losing more elections. If they think that all they need to do is have a Hispanic at the top of the ticket, chances are they are wrong. They need to offer some new ideas as well.

The Patriots have been overachievers the past two years. It doesn't have the talent to compensate for injuries, and it wins so much because it puts in 99% effort in the regular season and plays with terrific schemes to mask its deficiencies.
But in the playoffs a good team at 99% will not beat emotional, talented teams that play at 100%. It's what happened against the Giants in 2011 and the Ravens in 2012.

Good take ... but why worry about losing the say 20% way right ... they will vote republican anyways. I'm really hoping 2016 and 2020 tells the 20% way right and the 20% way left to take a hike ... we're tired of you.

If Rubio comes out now, he will be savaged by his competitors on the right up to the nomination, as he is going against the grain on immigration....and then if he survives, he will have to be humanized again, which often does not work..
I really hope the election cycle does not start 4 years out.... bad enough what happened in 2012...

Why do people keep calling it immigration when the REALITY is, it's an INVASION by criminals who break America's laws and then expect America to wipe their ass and slobber over them.
That's what was said about the Irish, Jews, Italians, and Chinese 100 years ago. (In the 1920s, they even passed immigration laws specifically directed at stopping Asians.) The Anglo Saxons (the Republicans) were up in arms about those ignorant, dirty people, and even Teddy Roosevelt supported bizarre studies of head shapes proving that the Irish, among others, were mentally inferior. In fact, the Anglo Saxons after WWI did an IQ test showing that the Irish were even stupider than the southern blacks. They only dropped the study after in the 1930s when a Jewish scholar (Franz Boas) said that if the study was accurate, it showed that southern whites were stupidest of all. Hispanics are the new immigrants. The criminals have to be weeded out, like we tried to do with the Italians, Jews, and Irish immigrants, with only limited success. But, what we should be working on now is assimilating the Hispanics into American culture. The harder we try to reject them, the greater the likelihood we will not assimilate them. If you want to save America, then support educating the new immigrants.
