Yes, secession movements sound petty, but remember that Vermont had a secession movement about 10 years ago too.
I've yet to see an accounting of what makes us this "we pay out more in taxes and they get more than they pay in" stuff. I hear it parroted all the time, but I never see an itemization, or specific explanation of how they account for those figures.
As for a state wanting to secede, would you support their right to independence, or force them, even militarily, to remain as a member of the union? I'm curious what people think. I remember when I heard about Vermonteers wanting to secede I laughed. Probably much like some are laughing in here. Now that I'm older, and more into states rights than before, I'm not sure I'd stop a state from leaving. I think, and I could be mistaken, that the constitutions language more or less prevents secession. Thoughts?
