Seriously though, pubbies, believe what you want to believe. Please, please settle on the conclusion that your guy didn't stay conservative enough for long enough, that was the problem. Find new and different ways to try to foist the religious right and the racist/xenophobic right on the rest of the country along with the voodoo economic policies. Continue to cry the blues for millionaires.

In 2010, about 90 million people voted. It was 131 million in 2008 and 129 million in 2012. Here's a thought: maybe when your guys are the only ones at the polls you can win

Granted it was a dumb thing for the politically unsophisticated to bail in 2010, but them's the breaks. All the pubbie turnout models (resulting in the bad internal polling by the pubbies in '12) assumed people wouldn't come back out to reelect our fine president. But they did.

Here's another thought, while I'm "whistling by the graveyard" after the Democratic victory: What if 2010 was the outlier? What if you can't count on an enthusiasm gap? What if everybody is wise to the Con game?

LMAO, yeah I'm whistling past the graveyard.

PFnV
2010 being the outlier???? Well, of course...it makes perfect sense since every midterm in our lifetime has had significantly less voter participation than the previous Presidential election.

The 2014 midterm will be different than every other mid term in the last 50+ years.

National Voter Turnout in Federal Elections: 1960

So yes...please assume that voter participation will be the same as the last Presidential election. The Progressive faith demands it!!

Here's the thing: teabaggers can't pull any more stunts, or somebody primaries them in two years. The great moderate purge will be reversed one way or another in the pubbie party... and I would love for it to be because the teabaggers break away and run under the Tea Party ticket next election.

Here's a clue: You can't outflank the bat-guano crazy teabagger crowd on the right. What's left? OOPS I told you.

I'm more a fan of watching it all unfold than making big bold predictions -- I mean, look how idiotic all the con-men looked when it turned out there was a landslide they were on the wrong side of.

Obama's got a mandate. Teabaggers have 2014 to worry about. Grover Norquist has an inane pledge to send around and a rapidly fading fad brand.

We'll see how the next couple months go.

Elections have consequences

BTW, has anyone seen or heard from Grover Norquist in the past week.

Is he in the Witness Protection Program???

what it says is that if more seats were up for grabs the right would have lost more. The majority of americans don't like extremes in any direction right or left. They majority don't believe in returning to the fifties. The majority doesn't want religion in their politics, the right does. From what ive read you and people like you would be fine if we had a theocracy. The majority sees that a few billionairs tried to buy a president and rejected it. The majority is tired of the conservative solution of tax cuts for the rich, dispraportionet military spending (we spend twice as much now as we did pre 9/11) and cutting of social programs. These three things are the rights solution to everything. And thankfully the majority of voters recongnized this

That's good to hear. I was worried about him.

Was he wearing a disguise? Does the GOP have a contract on his life?

Um.....all the House of Representative seats were up for reelection. As in every single one.......

And that "majority" reelected (not elected....reelected) 51 Tea party members back into office as well as a very solid Republican majority.

And you will see in the midterms that the majority of voters will regret that they voted Obama into office and crush his party like they did in 2010.

Yep, saw old Grover too. Still selling the same pablum. Notice how he lingered in obscurity while George II was spending us into this mess. Now he's the darling of the goofy right.

"Oh no! Grover will get angry if there's more revenue! But the Worst Thing In The World is the debt! Oh no the only thing we can do is dismantle the country's social safety net! This'll hurt us more than it'll hurt you..."

Guess what? Americans like having Social Security as a last-ditch end-of-the-road option. They'd actually like more security in retirement, but unfortunately we've been on a binge of bad moves in that regard, gutting the private retirement system, and replacing it with an inadequate system of 401(k)s. When your problem is the whole society will get old, it's only so comforting that a few of them did very well in their 401(k)s in happier times. You know a 70 year old 401(k) millionaire? I sure do. They really dug the Clinton years. Since then... not so much.
