Personally, I think Obama ought to think totally outside the box and appoint John Hunstman.
He's bright, he's knowledgable, he's experienced, he's worked with Obama before and it would show a true committment to bipartisanship on behalf of both Dems and Republicans.
I also think he's the most qualified person for the job.

The Globe had an article on Kerry, saying his father was a diplomat in Europe in the early Cold War years, Kerry is fluent in Portuguese, French, and Italian; the Russians have indicated they can work with him; plus Kerry is well known around the world for he traveled extensively as a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He'd be an excellent choice.
