But I'll tell you this: If the Republicans take control of Congress then I have no problem with a dem winning the White House again in 2016 so we can solidify our hold on Capitol Hill.
If the Dems win the White House in 2016, then we will most likely see a major shift on the Supreme Court to the left. Then, there would be a good possibility of campaign law reforms.
The one thing I do not want to see, is one party controlling the House, Senate, and POTUS.

In theory yes, I agree with you....but the reality is quite different.

Both these parties like the system the way it is. There is no "woe as me" when you are speaking in the hundreds of millions.

EDIT - would be cool if they would do that, but you don't bite the hand that feeds.

I'd have no problem with that, so long as it was the right party.

Don't get me wrong..... if the Republicans took control of Congress, I would still want the presidency as well. But I'm saying that if I had to choose one or the other, I'd choose Congress, and the main advantage of losing the presidency is that it helps your chances of doing that.

I'm not going to join the chorus of how "dead" the republicans are because fact is they are in a better position today than they were 4 years ago and I believe they'll be in a better position 2 years from now than they are today.

I've been thinking about this since the selection of Ryan as VP. I tposted that I thought Christie or Rubio would have been better picks. With that, I've come to think that Rubio didn't want on the ticket. In part, because he wants to run in 2016, and maybe he didn't want to be in a race against a fellow minority in Barack Obama. In 2016 he can run to be nominee, and not the side kick. Just a thought anyway.

Obama, like all dem candidates, will forever get favorable pub from the press. It's a simple fact of every national election.

I disagree. I think the presidency is more critical. Especially when you consider SC justices.

-----------------------------

Obama won't be on the ticket in 2016. We don't know what the economic, fiscal, or political landscape will be by then. Remember GW won a 2nd term in 2004 and look how that turned out. Obama lost independents by 7%. He lost people over 30 by 2 million or so votes. He won by 2% of the vote or so overall, against a flawed candidate. I said it in 2004, and I'll say it again here, this was no mandate. If, like Bush and the pubs did in 2004, Obama and the dems think it is, then they're in for a rude awakening. We're teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, in a depressed global economy. The next 4 years might not be very pretty. I just hope the people in DC all realize how serious and precarious a situation we're in, cuz they all need to focus on getting our fiscal house in order, or else.
