No.

It's been a very serious issue for the past TWELVE years.

What virtues do you envision being shared in that scenario?
I guess I would say a moral choice is choice deemed proper by a given group. If your group is Humans then I think they are generally the more broad choices - killing/raping/stealing etc.

Within the group of Humans, there are subsets; Religions and other belief systems, which may have their own spin/view on morality - maybe more restrictive or less. Christianity gives leeway here but takes it there. Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddism etc etc do the same.

It is my opinion that government (at least what we know as such; the American Experience) should be conducted at the highest order - Human. I think it is not our governments place to set moral code based on a subset of beliefs or another. If we believe that we were granted rights by Our Creator, then Our Creator has to be a creator above the Christian/Jewish/Muslim/Hindu creator, because "our" implies it belongs to all of us does it not?

In my little scenario - I would guess virtues that define our species would be shared, assuming of course it is a species with advanced cognitive abilities on par with /more advance than our own. I don't see how a species could exist long if members of it could freely do what they wanted - as it pertains to impacting the existence of those around it.

No one said it hasn't been. But we can agree that for most of those 12 years, we've been in denial.

And now we're not in denial...lookout for that cliff!!

Me? I'm not so sure.

I agree with alot of their principles - - but not their infantile behavior which has blocked actually PROGRESS for those principles.
By "a good thing", I am referring to forcing our electorate to deal with the budget and admit we're screwed if it's not addressed.

Behaviorally, I have no idea what the Tea Party does or has done...nor do I care.

BTW...I believe humans will never stop having faith of some sort. it's an inate desire in all of us to believe in something greater than ourselves....excluding Santa and the Easter Bunny.

Spending more than we are bringing in has been a problem for the last 32 years other then a brief respite in the late 90s.

Expanding government ain't wealth creation. Let's see where Government Motors goes with their channel stuffing

Heck, Hedge Fund Willard would not have done better or worse. So congratulations Barack O'Banker fans. For the record, I didn't vote for either.

Lets continue to spend spend spend like there is no tomorrow, and borrow borrow borrow. Its not like our financial system is unsustainable or anything. But in Washington, they care more about the profits of Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan than about me and you. I gave up caring, let the Titanic that is the US government hit the iceberg and let the sinking commence.

Note that we've been doing that for 32 years other than a brief respite in the 90s and it's not a left or right problem. There is a bigger picture to the spending problem and not getting bogged down in rhetoric is the best way to get people talking about the real underlying problems.
