I almost view them as Universal Human Rules.

Its when you get into the man-made Religious applications where they are lost on me.
But if you weren't taught all those things, you wouldn't know.

I don't believe humans aren't really born with a definative sense of right and wrong.

But then again, we see bugs and wild animals living together with their kind. Not many kill one another....wonder if they bang their neighbors though....

Haha that made me laugh PR.

All I know is I consider myself to be a moral person and I don't have a Religious bone in my body.

How can you explain the existence of morality in the absence of Religion?

Are you aware of any society that exist in the absence of religion?

How would you know stealing is wrong...do you think you're born with that sense?

Marriage comes 100% from religion...as does everything that goes with it...for better or worse, til death do us part.

How do the Mormans rationalize having more than one wife?

Most of human suffering in history has been at the hands of other humans, so I am not sure I follow. We are capable of some really bad shiznit.

Really a reply to you and PR.

Not all humans are moral. It requires choice to be moral.

I wasn't using Universal in the sense of Universal Acceptance.

I meant it in terms of the Universe - as in space and time. i.e. If I built a spaceship and found a planet with humanoid beings on it, I would expect them to share the same virtues in their culture assuming they were developed to some extent.

EDIT - My POV on the History of our species is very "out there" for some. Not in a Religious aspect, but as a history of what happened.

You guys can PM if you want. Sorry for derailing this thread.

No one's Lord would have sent Sandy to get one person elected to one office.

I think we are going in circles a bit here. Moral>>>human>>moral choices.

What defines a "moral choice"?

What virtues do you envision being shared in that scenario?

On thing is for sure - - this morning, the Democratic Party establishment heartily agrees with you.

Me? I'm not so sure.

I agree with alot of their principles - - but not their infantile behavior which has blocked actually PROGRESS for those principles.
