Yeah, like PFnV, I cringe a little at the term "Judeo-Christian". In the real world, such a concept doesn't really exist. It's a made up term.

It's not made up in the sense that during the period of the creation of our Constitution, Americans were far more religious than we are now.

Judeism contributed to the Christian bible....thus Judeo-Christian. And I don't believe it's debateable whether or not Christian/religious values played a role in the creation of our Constitution.

Do you?

BTW...I am not defending Ryan's comments. I don't like when politicians try to align with any religion publically in their speeches. My above comments are only about the validity of "Judeo-Christan values" in a historic sense.

I think the idea is that adding the Judeo prefix is a transparent attempt to bring in Jews and Judaism to the fold when in reality no such thing happened in the past.

An alliance of convenience so to say - I imagined Nikolai scoffing at the word and going "oh now its not Christian? It's Judeo-Christian?"

I always wondered what Jews thought about that term. Did it scare them, piss them off? Next thing you know they'll be a Judeo-Muslim movement or a Judeo-Mormon tradition.

Bout the same as the commonality between Jews and Muslims. In fact, it's almost a parallel relationship. Poor jews have both religions tagging their religion onto theirs while both of them would reather see them dead. Not me, though. I'd just rather see Jews, Christians and Muslims either recognize the minute differences as being minute or walk away from their superstitions altogether.
