Several utility crews from Alabama who arrived in New Jersey to help restore power following Hurricane Sandy were allegedly told to leave because they are not union workers, according to a Huntsville television station.
WAFF.com reports crews from Decatur Utilities and Joe Wheeler out of Trinity made their way to Seaside Heights, New Jersey this week to help get power back on for thousands of residents left in the dark. But the groups were told by crews in New Jersey that they cannot do any work because they are non-union employees, according to the report.
Derrick Moore, one of the Decatur workers, told the station he and his crewmates will instead head to Long Island, NY to help get power on back there.
Seaside Heights suffered an estimated $1 billion dollars in damages from Hurricane Sandy. Many are expected to be without power for the next few days.

Re: Non-Union Utility Crews from Alabama Turned Away From Helping NJ Sandy Victims
Any idea of just who it was who supposedly turned them away? The power company in Jersey says it was not them.
Quote:
JCP+L spokesman Ron Morano denies reports that the utility turned away help from non-union workers from Alabama.
“We have a great partnership (with our unions) and we [have] non-union workers working as part of this restoration effort. Our unions understand this is an all-hands-on-deck effort and it was not Jersey Central Power and Light that turned away that crew,” Morano told New Jersey 101.5′s Jim Gearhart.

From another thread I posted:

I was fortunate enough to have my power restored after 36 hrs. A block away power is still down. So a crew from Alabama comes up here to help people get their power back as the temps drop.
They weren't unionized so they were turned away by the Union jerks in NJ.
Report: Non-Union Alabama Utility Workers Turned Away From New Jersey
Quote:
Utility workers from Alabama, touted by Governor Christie as coming a great distance to help restore power, were reportedly turned away from New Jersey because they did not belong to a union.
Huntsville Utilities, Decatur Utilities and Trinity Electric workers were sent to Long Island instead according to Huntsville, Alabama TV station WAFF because “they were told by crews in Seaside Heights that they can’t do any work there since they’re not union employees” according to one of the employees.
Some of the crews wound up in Roanoke, Virginia while others headed home.
Unions have become evil.
The union jerks at the work site turned them away.

Chris Christie who has avoided the hysteria....
Quote:
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s office is denying the report saying it is "likely confusion about needing the crew at that particular location" and had "nothing to do with being union or non-union workers."

Could the gullibles be duped again??? Stay Tuned.
So we are to believe a politician over the workers who were bullied on the ground?
Gullible indeed.
BTW Seaside Heights can't get enough help, what a joke.
