Imagine for a second that our Founding Fathers never set up the Electoral College and presidential elections were decided simply by majority vote.
Now imagine that someone in our own time introduces the Electoral College as a way to make elections more equitable.......who would support it?
I would bet that very few people would support an Electoral College.
Again this election, I face the prospect of casting my vote knowing that it won't matter one bit (seeing that I'm a very Red guy in a very Blue state). Honestly, this year I'm considering not even wasting my time and voting. If I knew that my vote went to a national tally instead of to a state tally which reliably votes Democratic, I wouldn't even consider not voting.
So as far as I'm concerned, if you want true voter suppression......thy name is Electoral College.

The red bold almost made me throw up in my mouth a bit. If it's true (and it isn't, of course), anyone with a mind elevated above the function level of a dog would move to Canada or Mexico immediately.
Its a hell of a lot more of a snap shot of the US than Los Angeles and NYC both with populations 10 million each.
Thats all the candidates would have to pander too if it were left up to just a popular vote.
They bear no resemblance to the rest of this great country.
To hell they don't Florida has a huge northern transplant population including Jews. i was down there last December looking for property and I though I was on Cape Cod. You got a little bit of everybody there from all over.
Ohio you have industrial cities including rural farm folk representing mid west and south.
The funny part about this race is that it might come down to a state like New Hampshire, Iowa, or Colorado to push either R or O over the top.
An east, west, or heart of the country state.
here's my perfect storm for an entertaining next 4 years......
Obama wins the elctoral vote, but loses the popular vote.
at the same time, the repubs regain the senate......
would obama still want to be president?
