Default More Republican voter fraud - (MERGED)

Let's hope that the Congress acts with the same toughness it acted against ACORN, the organization best known for its voter registration activities in black communities. Here's a chance for the Republicans to prove they're not mere bigots -- by showing the same toughness that they showed against ACORN. There is clearly right now a serious problem with voter fraud by Republicans.

Riverside County GOP registration surge raises questions of fraud - latimes.com

SACRAMENTO — Aggressive recruitment efforts in one of California's most hotly contested voting districts has created a surge of newly minted Republicans like Marleny Reyes. Except she had no intention of joining the GOP.

...

Formal complaints filed with the state by at least 133 residents of a state Senate district there say they were added to GOP rolls without their knowledge, calling into question the party's boast that Republican membership has rocketed 23% in the battleground area.

More Suspicious Voter Forms Are Found

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/30/us...s.html?hp&_r=0

MIAMI — The number of Florida counties reporting suspicious voter registration forms connected to Strategic Allied Consulting, the firm hired by the state Republican Party to sign up new voters, has grown to 10, officials said, as local election supervisors continue to search their forms for questionable signatures, addresses or other identifiers.

After reports of suspicious forms surfaced in Florida, the company — owned by Nathan Sproul, who has been involved in voter registration efforts since at least the 2004 presidential election — was fired last week by the state Republican Party and the Republican National Committee. The party had hired it to conduct drives in Colorado, Nevada, North Carolina and Virginia.

The story states that one person filled out a voter reregistration form but did not mark the box for democrat because she knew she was already registered as a democrat. No, excuse for the form to be marked republican, but why not check the box?

Also, if you register republican does that mean that you have to vote republican? I was registered republican when I voted for Obama... does that mean my vote did not count and I therefore do not have to feel guilt over believing his BS?

Pay per registration incentives make it too tempting for a lot of these people to resist. The powers that decide to use this tactic count on it. It's completely inappropriate for voter registration. Republicans should be as upset as they are when similar things are done by democrats. Call republicans out for a double standard if you want but that mere bigot attack wasn't necessary and I find it offensive.

I'm also not clear on how mere registrations actually effect outcomes of general elections. That you're unaware that you're a registered republican doesn't influence what lever is pulled. Closed primaries would be a problem though.

I agree with you, but Republicans were so upset with ACORN for this that they effectively destroyed that very good organization. (My opinion was that was simply an act of boldface election opportunism because blacks represent a threat to the Republican Party, since blacks generally don't vote for racist policies.)

I get your point better now but I disagree with your premise. Look, I get that Republicans were very motivated to undercut all of ACORN's efforts to get out the vote, even though only some of their members were engaged in registration fraud. It's common knowledge that most blacks vote Democratic so it's logical to assume that the more blacks that are registered, the more votes Democrats will get....but to make the leap that Republicans don't want Democrats elected so their Racist policies won't pass is cynical at best.

North Carolina to investigate firm registering GOP voters | McClatchy

North Carolina now too...

For a bunch of people whining about ACORN not too long ago, when REAL FRAUD happens, conservatives seem to not care....

Its not going to be too hard to comb through the dumb ACORN threads in this forum and call people out.

Acorn was a criminal enterprise getting taxpayer $$$$.

Good riddance.

Default Pubbies prove voter fraud argument by doing it

Crazy like a FOX?

Catch up on the voter fraud operations the Pubbies contracted in Florida below ("Now a criminal matter"):

Daily Kos: RNC Cancels All Swing State Voter Registration Drives; UPDATE Chamber picks up slack

Oh, that's all well and good. Nothing to see here. FOX isn't covering it, after all. How could it ever affect... DOH!...

Republicans End Swing-State Voter Sign-Up After Firing Company - Businessweek

Quote:
The Republican National Committee ended efforts to sign up new voters before the deadline in key states for the presidential race because of questions raised over registration applications tied to the party.

Republican parties in Florida, Colorado, Nevada, North Carolina and Virginia -- all states that both campaigns view as competitive -- fired Glen Allen, Virginia-based Strategic Allied Consulting, the company in charge of registrations, said Kirsten Kukowski, a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee. The national committee also canceled its contract with the company, its only vendor signing up new voters, Kukowski said.
Oh-ohhhhhhhh.

Pubbies went nuts over ACORN guys trying to get 12 bucks an hour without doing the work, by filling out forms for Donald Duck. Well, Donald Duck wasn't going to show up and vote.

What these clowns are doing is registering people, then turning in the Republican registrations and trashing the Democratic ones (among many greatest hits in this company's repetoire.) The pubbies knew their tricks well enough that they actually told them to change their name before they'd sign them to do registration work.

New Pubbie argument:

"We know you can do voter fraud through registration drives... look, we're doing it!!!"
