Immediately the first thing that comes to mind is, why are they testifying, what specifically are they testifying about (take a closer look at the picture), and are they the only people who were called in to testify to begin with? A picture in and of itself doesn't explain much.

Don't you know, black people hate women too. If my eyes aren't lying to me, it looks like there's a priest in there as well. A picture like that is meaningless without context or a description attached.

Whether or not there is a priest there or not, they are all men talking about women's health issues....
Would it be the same if there was a panel with at least one nun and the rest women speaking about men's health issues..
I remember the incident well, and thought it was absurd..

What likely flew over your head, or wasn't something you objectively considered, since objectivity when a partisan point is being made is sometimes nonexistent, is that the people in the picture might only be 5 of the 10, 20, or 100 different individuals called in to testify. Or they might be part of a religious contingent made up of priests and reverends, discussing the exemption sought after by churches. Understand that I am not saying that's what they are. I'm merely pointing out that the picture alone, without any actual information or context, tells us nothing.

It did not fly over my head, I remember the incident and composition of the group well..
It had to do with the brouhaha about birth control for church sponsored medical plans.. it was a stacked hearing in the house against the mandate of Obama... no women were invited.
Don't assume anything...

RW is right. They are all clergy members. That was the meeting that Sandra Fluke was going to testify at but she was deemed "unqualified" by Darrel Issa. I'd like to know what led him to that conclusion
Anyway, it turns out Woman were there to testify agaist the administrations policy but they were part of another panel not scheduled to speak yet. What I find amazing that in their own story The Nation writes the below account that clearly shows woman were there testifying and decides to lie about that in its own headline. We can debate contraception mandates and GOP makeups in another thread because this is getting way off topic but Pelosi and The Nation were purposely deceptive in their description.
Republican Hearing on Contraception: No Woman Allowed
Quote:
A committee spokeswoman reached out to me this afternoon, offering to correct the record on the witness list and rebuke Pelosi. “Rep. Pelosi is either ill informed or arrogantly dismissive of women who don’t share her views. Today’s hearing does in fact include two women, Dr. Allison Garrett of Oklahoma Christian University and Dr. Laura Champion of Calvin College Health Services.”
As I noted, it was the first panel that was woman-free. The second panel indeed has the two aforementioned women, though I will note both are testifying against the administration’s contraception policy. Also, Dr. Champion is the only one of now eleven witnesses who has any public health experience.

Or maybe they are better at hiding it in rural areas (e.g. think State College, Pa and a certain football coach- how was that hidden for so many years)..
I'm just postulating that it may not be racial totally but other factors at play. It shouldn't be at all but I'm not naive. Food for thought.
