What we've seen over the last week, week and a half, is something that actually we've seen in the past, where there is an offensive video or cartoon directed at the prophet Muhammad. And this is obviously something that then is used as an excuse by some to carry out inexcusable violent acts directed at Westerners or Americans.
Press Secretary Jay Carney says the White House has no information to suggest that any of the unrest in the Middle East 'was pre-planned.' He says it's in reaction to a video that 'we have judged to be reprehensible and disgusting.'
Even if they were, why are you stuck on this notion that if you find one thing offensive you must automatically find another offensive? Is it Book of Mormon you're referring to here again? Are Book of Mormon and the video pretty similar (if you've seen them both)?
I am stuck on the notion that they are full of $h!t when they say that they 'reject the denigration of the religious faith of others'.

How many times did Gen. Richard Meyers call the Dixie Chicks? Any calls from Bush to Columbia Records?
If anything the protests have caused more people to view the stupid YouTube video. Most people would never have heard of it and certainly never have bothered to watch it.
That is what we saw play out the last two weeks, as a crude and disgusting video sparked outrage throughout the Muslim world. I have made it clear that the United States government had nothing to do with this video, and I believe its message must be rejected by all who respect our common humanity. It is an insult not only to Muslims, but to America as well for as the city outside these walls makes clear, we are a country that has welcomed people of every race and religion. We are home to Muslims who worship across our country. We not only respect the freedom of religion we have laws that protect individuals from being harmed because of how they look or what they believe. We understand why people take offense to this video because millions of our citizens are among them.
