The right loves to retreat, and run away.. see Reagan after Lebanon, Bush I when he had Hussein in the crosshairs and withdrew, Bush II when he had OBL in the crosshairs at Tora Bora and could not pull the trigger....

You do understand that the Libyan government is responsible for the security outside of the embassy, inside the embassy is a different story.. but this was an outpost..

Compare to the Federal Government's responsibility in DC if unrest and violent protests took place outside of any embassy, they have the responsibility to protect the embassy.. conversely the people defending the embassy have no statutory authority to go outside of the walls...

Ya think?

If we cannot defend out embassies WTH are we going to do for citizens running around these countries?

Too funny.

Making light of another poster defies Ian's plea for civility on this board..

Come on down to DC and take a walk down "Embassy Row."

Tell me how many fully armed Russian soldiers are guarding the Russian Embassy or how many Saudi guards are guarding their's. Tell me how many armed soldiers from any foreign nation are guarding any of the embassies in DC.

Tell me that you'd want to see them there.

It's ok...what's "too funny" is the idea that we should withdraw our specially trained and prepared government employees from a country and leave those whom they are there to serve and protect (American citizens living on foreign soil) on their own.

Even in the final days of the Viet Nam war the embassy personnel were the last to go.

Regardless of the personal danger you just don't leave your post until all of those you have sworn to serve and protect are safe.

I'd have thought you knew that, 13.

Yeah well go down there with a rag on your head and throw a molotov kocktail and see how long you last. The thing wouldn't hit the ground and you'd be dead in the street.

Walk any place in the us with a molotov ****tail, and see what happens..

You do not need a rag on your head..
