He only mentioned people who are considered prophets in Islam.
I'm sure your last point is correct, but it doesn't make the Grand Mufti any less wrong.

OT: What did Mapplethorpe do, aside from sinning in the views of Christians (who supposedly view all men as sinners -- though I guess Mapplethorpe falls into that unspoken category of special sinners)?
As for Serrano, I'm pretty sure he was Catholic...
edit: way OT -- btw, Mapplethorpe was actually a very talented photographer. Check out his photos of flowers, for example, as that's something that shouldn't offend anybody -- many are stunning. Some examples are here:
