Niether party is what it used to be. It's amazing to me sometimes how far from their principles each party has gone. That being said, I don't think public employee unions were in 1956, what they are now.

They sure have, I know that from personal dealings, many of our "elected officials" in the Teamsters have THEMSELVES become the dreaded CEO's they used to do battle with, now they lie in bed with them.

unions used to be primarily a private sector entity. they are now primarily a public sector entity.

Not really, there are only slightly more public sector union members than there are public sector union members - and that's changing rapidly.

Quote:
The Bureau of Labor Statistics said the number of private sector workers in unions increased by 110,000 to 7.2 million, buoyed by a rebound in manufacturing and construction employment. But with many states, cities and school districts laying off employees, the number of public sector workers in unions dropped 61,000, to 7.56 million.
