"What they are trying to suggest is that I said Barack Obama was responsible for the plant shutdown in Janesville. That is not what I was saying, read the speech," he told NBC's "Today." "What I was saying is the president ought to be held to account for his broken promises. After the plant was shut down he said he would lead efforts to restore the plant. It’s still idle."
But Ryan appeared to be blaming Obama for the closure of the plant, located in his hometown of Janesville, Wis., in his speech:
"My home state voted for President Obama," he said Wednesday. "When he talked about change, many people liked the sound of it, especially in Janesville, where we were about to lose a major factory."

POS can't even admit what everyone knows. He's a serial liar. He's probably a cereal liar, too.. Claims he never had a bowl of Cap'n Crunch because he strictly pro-Life.

He didn't misspeak, the media reported what he siad incorrectly, this quotes and vids have been presented on different threads.
The dems can't run on the Obama record so talk about trivia and try to make it into an issue.
25,000,000 unemployed.... skyrocketing energy prices....

We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."

.
The media has been reporting "incorrectly" since September 29, 2012 - 6 days ago.......why did he wait until now to correct them?
His intention was to get false information out there - knowing that once the genie is out of the bottle she never goes completely back in.
He accomplished exactly what he wanted to accomplish - no 5- line back page retraction is going to touch a much reported, well watched convention acceptance speech in terms of audience reached.

Why should politicians spend all their time responding to misleading media reports that is the game the media wants to play.

I might believe that if Ryan had only told the story once on convention night - but he didn't. He also blamed Obama's "terrible energy policies" for the plant closure back on August 17th at a speech he gave in Ohio.
It's a "game" alright - but it's of the politician's choosing.
Quote:
Ryan told a crowd in North Canton, Ohio yesterday that the president's energy policies had led to the factory's closure in 2009. Ryan delivered the attack in personal terms, saying he had high school buddies who worked at the factory. "A lot of my high school buddies worked at that GM plant," Ryan said. "One of the reasons that plant got shut down is $4 gasoline. You see, this costs jobs. The president's terrible energy policies are costing us jobs."
But despite Ryan's emotional story, GM announced the plant's closure in June of 2008. In October of 2008, the date was accelerated from 2010 to the end of the year. And on December 23, 2008 the last SUV rolled off the line.
Ryan said the factory closed because gas prices had climbed to $4 per gallon. Gas prices were that high, but that was in June of 2008, when George W. Bush was the president. Gas prices today are lower than they were then, though they do remain high.
Ryan also claimed the President Obama had promised to keep the factory open—but that's not true according to The Detroit News, USA Today, and TPM.
