Play coy all you want. Most of us are smart enough to see right through you.

Uh huh. So Republicans spend eight years digging us into a huge ditch, then spend the next four undermining the guy trying to pull us out, and then, to top it all off, they want us to vote for the guy who espouses the very same policies that got us into this mess in the first place. Tax cuts for the rich, tax hikes for everyone else, increased military spending, and a neoconservative foreign policy.

Thankfully, it appears Americans are smart enough to not buy the crap sandwich y'all are selling.

Some of my best firends are conservative Republicans. My life would be so much less full without these great friends. I understand their positions and they understand mine. Then we go out for a beer. It must be very sad for someone like you to go through life with "enemies".

Once again, if you consider someone who has a different opinion than you have as "an enemy", then I feel nothing but pity for darkness and sadness of your life.

I sincerely hope things improve for you.

I have friends who are libs, that doesn't affect the destructive results of progressive ideology.

The value of language from Walker's essay:

Quote:
In any conflict, it is a deadly error to mistake or underestimate the adversary's capabilities, will to employ them, or ultimate goals.

Around the globe, what was once confidently deemed “Western civilisation” is in an end-stage battle with champions of a collectivist and statist ideology which, over the last century, has enacted programs of redistributive taxation, borrowing, and spending whose unsustainability has now become self-evident and which, unless the present course is altered, will collapse in at most ten years. Further, the second- and higher-order effects of these policies have led to demographic collapse in the societies which have adopted them, crippled capital formation and the creation of productive enterprises, and been used as a justification for mass immigration from regions hostile to the culture and values of the West which have been responsible for its prosperity.

Those who would destroy a society, destroy first its language. As Orwell observed, when the terms of discourse are corrupted, the corruption spreads into every domain the language is used to debate. So deep has this language rot penetrated, that it is difficult to write an essay like this without succumbing to it—that is the intent of those who spread the contagion. The present-day culprits identify themselves as “progressives” or “liberals”. Take a step back and ponder how manipulative this is: if you're a “progressive”, then you must obviously be on the side of progress, even though the outcome of the policies you advocate will ultimately roll back all of the advances in individual liberty and prosperity made since the Enlightenment; if you're a “liberal”, surely you must advocate liberty, notwithstanding that the consequences of your prescriptions will be descent of society into serfdom for the masses, deemed property of the state, ruled by an unelected, unaccountable élite.

These so-called “progressives” or “liberals” are not advocates of progress or liberty: they are enemies of them, and the sooner champions of liberty acknowledge what they are, the better our slim chances for defeating them will be. Libertarians and conservatives are inclined toward civil discourse and respect for the rule of law. They must come to terms with the fact that their enemies—not opponents—are implacable, bent on winning whatever the cost may be, willing to use any means whatsoever to prevail and, once triumphant, to deprive their opposition of the means to reverse or even impede the implementation of their agenda.

They are enemies.

I have children and grandchildren I am concerned about their future.

BTW what is your opinion of Bain's record as a Turnaround firm (the 80% success rate).

Is it as horrible as libs say or is it a good success rate?

Which firms are better?

How many jobs did Bain save/create?

Whe will Corzine go to jail?

We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."

OT: Bain isn't generally known as a turnaround firm.

Where did you get an "80% success rate," and how was that defined (e.g., which investments qualified, and what was a "success"?)?

Bain has obviously been a very good performer as a private equity firm. That has nothing to do with jobs created or saved, though -- it's based strictly on returns to their LPs, and it's enabled them to raised numerous funds (with substantial contributions from state pension funds, btw) even with higher costs (at least for a while) when other firms started cutting their fees due to pressure from prospective LPs.

I didn't think so.
No, I'm not in favor of deporting illegal aliens, and instead favor an amnesty, but I believe we can't always live in la-la land like conservatives do and hold out for the US government to deport everyone. At some point, people need to wake up to the reality that a lot of illegals are here to stay, and we must do something about that. If you haven't figured it out yet, even among Republicans there are many who favor an amnesty. I support English as the national language. I think language is a powerful unifier, and English is the greatest language there is. That said, even with English as the national language, I still think we have to deal with the reality that many people speak Spanish and need to accommodate them.
