How Hatch forced Microsoft to play K Street's game
Hatch is being challenged by a Tea Party candidate in the R primary in Utah. Hopefully Hatch will get nuked. Hatch is an example of the GOP establishment. This article is about Hatch and Microsoft, however it is something that applies across both parties.
The Washington establishment is like the Mafia in the early 20th Century shaking down small businesses in Little Italy.
The arrogance of the Lobbiest and Congress critters is breathtaking. I can only quote a few sentences, it is worth reading the entire article.
Carney: How Hatch forced Microsoft to play K Street's game | WashingtonExaminer.com
Quote:
Hatch's crusade against Microsoft was a formative moment in the cozy relationship between K Street and Capitol Hill. That coziness has become a prime target of the Tea Party in recent years -- and so has Orrin Hatch, who faces a primary Tuesday against conservative challenger Dan Liljenquist.

One lobbyist fumed about Gates to author Gary Rivlin: "You look at a guy like Gates, who's been arrogant and cheap and incredibly naive about politics. He genuinely believed that because he was creating jobs or whatever, that'd be enough."

What is so notable is that Hatch's behavior isn't unusual. Crony Capitalism is a cancer on out country. Washington sholdn't have the pwoer to allow them to shake down and commit extortion against businesses.

"How does (Miami-Ohio offensive lineman Brandon) Brooks not get invited to the combine? How did Vollmer not get invited to the combine? I don't know. We can't really worry about that. We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."
