Default President of EU Commission Blames US for Europe's Problems

If I could have placed a in the thread title, I would have. As Europe's problems are 100% Europe's doing.

G20 summit: Barroso blames eurozone crisis on US banks

G20 summit: Barroso blames eurozone crisis on US banks | World news | The Guardian

""This crisis was not originated in Europe … seeing as you mention North America, this crisis originated in North America and much of our financial sector was contaminated by, how can I put it, unorthodox practices, from some sectors of the financial market."

Did the US create the Euro-Union? No

Did the US create massive (larger than in the US) real estate bubbles in Spain & Ireland? No

Did the US allow an unfit Greece into the EU? No

Is the US responsible for European gov't over-spending? No

Is the US going to help bail out Europe? GOD, I hope not!!!!

BTW....support for free-market capitalism is waning in some Euro nations, but remains unchanged in the US. Surprisingly, free-market capitalism continues to have strong support in Germany, France and Great Britain.

Really? You believe that any "national" or "regional" economy is "100%" insulated from economies elsewhere in the world?

If you recall, in late 2008/early 2009, before all the hate solidified in a crypto-fascist anti-Obama movement, some huge percentage of Americans for the first time in memory were saying Socialism might be a better system than Capitalism.

Bear in mind that among other things, the present crisis is Europe dealing with their equivalent to our 2008. In 2008, they got the contagion. In 2012, they're "patient zero."

If anything I find it funny you're complaining that they're noting the ties among economies, when in the next thread you'll be complaining about the drag of Europe (and specifically Greece) on the U.S. economy going forward (or celebrating it, if we're talking about the impact on our elections.)

National economies are no longer any such thing, and all the king's horses and all the king's men can't put humpty together again. And it turns out the king only orders around the horses and men, but his treasurer is doing the real heavy lifting.

Welcome to the 21st century.

PS - your link is written from a home-team angle. And to be fair, the exchange was in the vernacular, not a very considered question or response... here's how the exchange opened --

Quote:
As Europe's leaders came under intense pressure to act decisively to cure the euro's ills, and a campaign gathered pace to relax some of the austerity programmes laying waste to countries with unsustainable debt levels, Barroso said Europe had not come to the G20 summit in Mexico to receive lessons on how to handle the economy. Asked by a Canadian journalist: "Why should North Americans risk their assets to help Europe?" he replied: "Frankly, we are not here to receive lessons in terms of democracy or in terms of how to handle the economy.
Then the EU guy did his home-team rooting.

What do you care mon amie, you have stated repeatedly that you do not care what other countries think of us.

I actually laughed when I read it...thought others might get a kick out of it too. In fact I LIKE that they're blaming us so when we refuse to give them US tax dollars, it will feel that much better.
