Default And the "winner" of the gay superhero prediction is...

... the Green Lantern.

But DC Comics is wussing out by choosing one of the other green lanterns, i.e. not Hal Jordan, to do this with. So they were full of crap when they promised it would be a "major character." The main Green Lantern will be unaffected.

We may now return to our regularly scheduled bickering.

I know this is going to open me up to all sorts of ridicule but what can I say? I read comics as a kid (and see just about all the comic book movies).

There are thousands of Green Lanterns in the universe, all belonging to the Green Lantern Corps, tasked with defending the universe from all sorts of evil monsters. Maybe even some of them are gay too ("them" meaning the other members of the Green Lantern Corps, not the "evil monsters" - although, come to think of it, I'm sure some of the evil monsters are gay as well).

There have been several human beings selected to be members of the Green Lantern Corps. The one we are most familiar with - and the one from the mediocre Green Lantern movie last year - is Hal Jordan. The other humans selected over the years have played a much smaller part and I honestly can say I don't remember any of their names.

It is one of these "other" human Green Lanterns who is now being reintroduced as a homosexual but, if I understand the article correctly, if you go to the comic book store and buy a "Green Lantern" comic or a "Justice League" comic, you'll be getting good ole' heterosexual Hal Jordan.

Let the ridicule begin.

DC Comics is showing courage here.
Like Barney Frank says " No guts ,no glory holes." Right dems?
Or is it No butts, no glory holes? somethin like that.

There's been like 9 different gay Xmen for decades now and DC's got the stones to put their one measly gay 1/2 character on a pedestal?

DC, they're definitely the Republican comic book company.

DC's stones? Definitely seems like the same principled stones our President and Vice President mustered up now that they think it's safe to have any.

Nah, no ridicule -- from me, anyway. I think comic books are kind of cool now, though ive never been into them. I occasionally find myself near a comic book store in Santa Monica and usually will stop in just to browse a little and pick up a couple random things, like any other bookstore (that still exist, anyway).

I appreciate the answer -- I had no idea.
