Doesn't make it OK, in fact it's disgusting. But not nearly as disgusting as multi-national corporations that avoid taxes in myriad ways.

I find the Thatcher "socialism" quote irrelevant, and amusingly ironic. It's free market capitalists that have a field day with other people's money - to disastrous results. ... Yay deregulation!!

Ah, Euro austerity... Just another chapter in the great story of privatizing gains and socializing losses.

Real World

I think we should begin to charge an access tax to UN members each and every time they walk though the doors of their offices in NYC.

I personally think elitist officals like her avoiding taxes is far worse. Corporations aren't the one's imposing taxes to begin with. They're not the ones who are scolding a citizentry to "pay their tax", when they pay none. They're not the ones spending taxpayer money while asking (aka taxing) for more. It's do as I say, not as I do.

Conversely our huge diplomatic corps throughout the world is extended the same courtesy by the countries that they work in.. they have to pay US taxes.

No. Instead, they're just commanded zero-interest loans from the Federal Reserve System in a hidden, backdoor form of corporate welfare to the tune of trillions of dollars. I don't even need to cover naked short selling, which dwarfs the combined tax revenue of all UN employees 10-fold.

But, misplace your outrage as you see fit. It must be socialists who are to blame, because the Iron Lady said so. The era of deregulation and slimey corporate accounting tricks have nothing to do with this financial disaster.
