Default President Obama Causes Outrage with Reference to ‘Polish Death Camp’

President Doofus strikes again:

President Obama Causes Outrage with Reference to ‘Polish Death Camp’ - ABC News

Quote:
Poles and Polish-Americans expressed outrage today at President Obama’s reference earlier to “a Polish death camp” — as opposed to a Nazi death camp in German-occupied Poland.

“The White House will apologize for this outrageous error,” Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski tweeted. Sikorski said that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk “will make a statement in the morning. It’s a pity that this important ceremony was upstaged by ignorance and incompetence.”

Guess dopey didn't know the Poles had been conquered by the Nazi's and Communist in 1939 and that the Germans ran Death Camps on Polish soil. Sort of like confusing Black people with the KKK after the ivil War.

Making Bush look smart is pretty hard but Dumbo has managed to do it.

We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."

If you think Obama wasn't aware of those facts, you're fooling yourself.

If you said it and don't believe it, well, par for the course, I guess.

Clearly the term Polish was meant in a geographic sense, and clearly that is offensive to Poland -- understandably. Given that, Obama should apologize -- or will you guys also get upset over an apology, as you so often do?

Regardless of his intention, it was apparently a political gaffe, and Obama will have to apologize. This is the first I heard that there's a controversy with the phrase "Polish death camps."

That's because a liberal said it, so the MSM will do the bare minimum as far as covering it. If Bush had said such a thing? National headlines for months.

Well the Minister of Foreign Affairs has demanded a formal apology.

https://twitter.com/#!/sikorskiradek

I guess for many who don't know history they don't appreciate just how insulting this is to the Polish nation.

This makes his "57 states" look like an insightful comment.

He is lost without a teleprompter. Incapable of thinking on his feet.

I wonder if that's the same one his grandfather liberated while serving in the Red Army.

We don't know that yet, but I hope you're right.

Yeah the Poles don't like being confused with the Nazi's who invaded their country and persecuted it's citizen's funny how that work.

Of course this sin't the first time Obama has insulted the Poles, he reversed course on letting them have a missle defense system on the 60 year anniversary of the Solviet Union Invasion of Poland in WW2 (9/17/2009)

Very thoughtful of them.

In diplomacy dates and words mean things.

There's a lot of sentiment in the Jewish community that the Poles in many ways were complicit with the Nazis. The Wikipedia article on the subject suggests that a case can be made either way. So, it's not clear if Poland deserves an apology, but still Obama has no choice.

Nice to see the man honored:

Quote:
Mr. Obama’s full comments about Mr. Karski:
http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2012/0...sh-death-camp/

“For years, Jan Karski’s students at Georgetown University knew he was a great professor; what they didn’t realize was he was also a hero. Fluent in four languages, possessed of a photographic memory, Jan served as a courier for the Polish resistance during the darkest days of World War II.

Before one trip across enemy lines, resistance fighters told him that Jews were being murdered on a massive scale, and smuggled him into the Warsaw Ghetto and a Polish death camp to see for himself. Jan took that information to President Franklin Roosevelt, giving one of the first accounts of the Holocaust and imploring to the world to take action. It was decades before Jan was ready to tell his story. By then, he said, `I don’t need courage anymore. So I teach compassion.’”
