Default Bob Dylan Among Recipients of Presidential Medal of Freedom

Pretty cool weekend for Mr. Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan Among Recipients of Presidential Medal of Freedom - NYTimes.com

Quote:
It would be an overstatement to say that the whole wide world was watching when Bob Dylan’s ship came in, but surely his fans pinched themselves and squealed and knew that it was for real when he was awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom on Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. Dylan, 71, whose career of more than 50 years stretches from early folk songs like “The Times They Are A-Changin’” and “When the Ship Comes In” to the recondite rock of recent albums like “Modern Times” and “Together Through Life,” was presented with the medal at a ceremony in the White House, where President Obama said of him.

“There is not a bigger giant in the history of American music.” Mr. Obama also praised Mr. Dylan’s voice for its “weight” and “unique gravelly power” that redefined “not just what music sounded like but the message it carried and how it made people feel.”

I find it very interesting that Bob Dylan wasn't free until today. Bob, enjoy your newfound freedom. Take time and really explore the spaces!

Have been a Bob Dylan afficianado since I saw him in the Folk Festival in 1963, my IPOD has over 100 songs by him and 50 songs that are covered by other performers... have seen him at least 8 times...

He is the man, his music library now comprises over 500 songs..

Diamonds and Rust..

Saw him in Providence in the early 80's. Joan Biaz also was there.
