Default Move Over OWS - There Is a Warm Breeze Blowing in From the North

Here is an issue and a protest that is not going away. One way to keep jobs in North America is to find ways to save on tuition ... this is big and under reported by the MSM. Now they are trying anti-protest laws ... that's a great idea ... NOT!!! These protests will not be taken over by deviants ... not this time.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jonas-...b_1545725.html

Quote:
Students in Quebec are rising up and fighting back against tuition increases. For over three months there has been a strike comprising of as many as nine percent of the province's students, with marches and rallies night and day against the March 2011 decision to raise tuition by $325 a year for five years.

The largest of these occurred on May 22 with estimates ranging from 250,000 to 500,000 students and supporters taking the streets to celebrate the 100 day anniversary of the strike despite laws making such demonstrations illegal. It has been said to be the largest act of civil disobedience in Canadian history.

Of course, news coverage of all this in the United States is scant, at best, and in Canada tends to have an interesting violent spin in what are widely called peaceful protests. In fact, there is evidence of unprovoked police violence in the area around the protests, with police pepper spraying bar patrons.

The air is getting warmer here in the United States; we are feeling the warm air flowing down from our brothers and sisters in Canada. As spring comes to an end and summer approaches, students are getting organized. We are looking at what is happening in Canada and we are taking notes from professors in a new form of radical education.

The ubiquity of social networking and citizen journalism has made mass media repression more and more of a moot point. We see what is happening despite it not being reported. We are hearing the calls for international solidarity. Pleas, not for help, but for hope that we may follow in their path and join them. We see that the Canadian students are winning the battle and we see what we need to do. We have been provided a framework for success and it is up to us to use it.

Hear a lot about this on NPR, but flying under the radar in most US Media outlets..

Now there are families marching with them beating on pots and pans, guess this happens daily..

Yet another reason why the mainstream CORPORATE media is not liberal at all.

Right up there with its silence on everything from the NDAA to Fukushima to the global collapse of the great ponzi scheme.

Shhhh.... nothing to see here. Capitalism is infallible.

Unless of course the
United Nations and some of its biggest proponents get control over the Internet.. Now why would Russia and China and countries of that ilk want total control??????

The Hindu : Sci-Tech / Internet : Who controls the World Wide Web?

The proposed CIRP will be a multilateral institution, where governments will sit together and take decisions on internet policies, treaties and standards. Not surprisingly, many have interpreted this as a move towards greater governmental control of the Web (read tighter censorship), even as others have lauded this as a progressive step towards greater democratisation of the internet. <<<<

Call me skeptical....

It's front page news on CBC, but nowhere else. I remember a joke in a film (The Insider maybe) about how no one cares about Canada, which was used as an excuse not to follow up on the story on how the Canadian government was cracking down on Inuit dissent in the early 90s. Perhaps it's really true.

“On a day when they could have had impact players David Terrell or Koren Robinson..they took Georgia defensive tackle Richard Seymour, who had 1 sacks last season in the pass-happy SEC and is too tall to play tackle at 6-6 and too slow to play defensive end. This genius move was followed by trading out of a spot where they could have gotten the last decent receiver in Robert Ferguson and settled for tackle Matt Light, who will not help any time soon.”
