The wonderful thing about laws is that they're multifaceted:

As Martin did not have a restraining order on Zimmerman and since Zimmerman was recognized as neighborhood watch (even if he was self appointed, the neighborhood still recognized him as that), and since Zimmerman had already called the cops to report suspicious activity, Zimmerman had a right to be there. Therefore, I'd say that the threat of violence from Zimmerman toward Martin was much more perceived than imminent. Also...

With this on hand, I'd say Zimmerman was within his right under the law whereas Martin was not. However, even if you are correct, MrsP, you would still have to recognize that Zimmerman was well within his rights under the law. That said, unless the prosecution can put together a slam dunk of a case in court and reveal something that we don't know right now, based on what we know AS OF NOW, Zimmerman will walk. And he should. Again, I just hope I'm not working when he does because I can guarantee you that this will incite a Rodney King-type riot.

That would only work if Trayvon Martin was aware of Zimmerman being a neighborhood watch person, recognized him as such and knew that the police had been notified and were enroute, wouldn't it? Trayvon also had a right to be where he was....just as much right as Zimmerman.

The more I read that Stand Your Ground law the more it see-saws back and forth making it virtually impossible to blame one person and not the other. First it says you cannot use deadly force if you incited the act - but then it says you can use deadly force if you incited the act but then lost control of it and suddenly feared for your life.

The wording makes it seem possible for almost anyone to use it if they kill someone else.

Liberals and others want Zimmerman the Hispanic sent to prison for life, hopefully solitary confinment until he dies.

The same "Zimmerman Haters" danced in the streets when the OJ Simpson Verdict "Not Guilty" came in yet the whole world knew without a doubt that he practically Beheaded his own wife, the mother of his children.

Zimmerman is a "gung ho fool" and he will have to live with it for the rest of his days, but who knows, if he didn't have a gun he might be The Dead One, of course that is just presumed.

America is becoming a country where you better not go for a nice walk on a summer evening, the good old days are all gone.

He's dead. That's the part that seems to escape you guys; you're not trying to disinter the guy and cite him for bad language. The trial's about a guy shooting him to death, and Z's excuse of "stand your ground" depends getting closer to impossible with every passing day.
