"In this case, it would’ve been helpful for him to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that’s not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage. Or that – as great as her friends may be – we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids’ worldview."
Hint: Think "hypocritical."

THOUSANDS of years of thinking about marriage???

thats frickin rich......

tell that to the Mormons...Or Mitt's Grandfather. Unless he is a few thousand years old, I assume his father being born in a polygamy commune In Mexico says all we need to know about how long traditional marriage was acceptable.

Not sure if the quoted person is aware that as long ago as 1967, in some states blacks and whites couldn't get married. was THAT the tradition we are trying to preserve?

Also, whoever said this thinks Dick Cheney is a terrible father. After all he failed to keep his daughter straight.

Its not shocking that the hard core right wingers hate "Love"

Marriage is just a word, get over it. What you do with that word is what defines your union.

If that is here opinion then what is the problem ... is she not entitled to that opinion? Perhaps she can think that while also not be providing that. You know like a parent explaining that college is a good thing even though they did not go to college themselves. She's still young and her views are evolving as like most of us when we were in our 20's.

why the hate?

Why should her opinion be immune from criticism?

Also, she claims, "we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home" -- does she have evidence of that?

and where's the hate?
