Before it was dolphins - I believe the official count was about a thousand. Before that it was mass bird drops.
All in the last couple years.
Now: yes, yes, I know we're in the middle of a mass extinction event, and I know I know, human activity can't have anything to do with it, them's the rules of fantasyland. Everything we do is hunky dorey and good for the environment and crude oil actually greases their wings and makes them fly better, whatever.
My question isn't really "is it really happening?" or "Hmmmm wonder if we had anything to do with this?"
My question is why the aquatic life that you go to the beach to see keeps being on the beach, rather than off in the water or up in the air. Why are largish animals you can usually see from the beach starting to kick the fish-bucket now and coming to you?
Any theories?
Holla.

It's hard to say. The Pelicans were malnourished according to early tests. There was another mass pelican death in peru in 1997. That was blamed on a shortage of anchovies due to an el Nino.
If that is the cause, then this guy believes it starts with climate change. As far as why they wind up washing up on beaches it could be its simply that they're looking in the ocean their ocean food diet.
The change in frequency and severity of El Nino and La Nina events does not affect climate change. The changes are caused by climate change.
I used to lecture on meteorology to competition glider pilots and I was considered to be fairly good. But the weather patterns that occurred twenty years ago are very different today and will be different again tomorrow. And as a result, food will be in short supply.
But I say we can stop the heating and restore weather stability. But the oil industry won’t let that happen.

------------------ “On a day when they could have had impact players David Terrell or Koren Robinson..they took Georgia defensive tackle Richard Seymour, who had 1 sacks last season in the pass-happy SEC and is too tall to play tackle at 6-6 and too slow to play defensive end. This genius move was followed by trading out of a spot where they could have gotten the last decent receiver in Robert Ferguson and settled for tackle Matt Light, who will not help any time soon.”
Re: Hey science guys how come everything is gang-dying?
I don't think the facts support any conclusions right now. What I hate is how tight everything is money-wise. This is worth spending money to run to ground, possibly huge; but we gotta keep them taxes low.

We did it millions of years ago, we got out of the water, stood up, starterd walking around and then we started fighting and killing each other.
Those things you see coming in are the Republicans and the Democrats of the future, they will soon start fighting because they look different than each other.
Re: Hey science guys how come everything is gang-dying?
Top predators are prone to toxic exposures, especielly fish eaters, because heavy metals and other substances accumulate up the chain. These animals tend to have more complex brains and behaviors which depend on more complex processing. When they become neurologically damaged by toxin exposure, they make more fatal mistakes. There are other theories under investigation including oceanic "noise" and electromagnetic confusion impacting the ability of animal groups that migrate. Probably a combination of factors creating a bad situation for the crittahs. One thing we all know is that it's Obama's and the EPA's fault.
