Hmm, not seeing any articles on recent increases in gang-dying in Nature or Science either. I guess that means it's not really a scientific observation, then.

I am not trying to say that mankind's pollution has no effect on the environment, but just that people will believe what they want to believe even when proved wrong by science.
The red tide also happens in the NE, at first glance everyone thought it was that filmy seaweed, but it is a microscopic event...
This is the first time that I have read that it is man made, but considering the amount of crap we put into the ocean all things are possible and worthy of consideration...
The answer to pollution is dilution.. keep pumping that crap into the rivers and oceans... what could possible happen??

I believe Hamar is saying it isn't man made, but some people choose to believe it is man made.

And you know that how???
The jury is still out, but we do know that there has been a marked increase in the amount of nutrients discharged into the ocean.. which can influence algae blooms..

Data on the "marked increase" and how the base line was established to corrcts for the increased ability to find this sort of event based on satillite imagery and monitoring that didn't exist 30 years ago?

You do not need a scientific study to recognize that there is more shyt and artificial nutrients flowing down stream in our rivers into the ocean.... spend some time around rivers and the ocean.

IOW you have no proof. thanks for clearing that up.
It is ok for us to admit that we don't know things that is the basis of science to try to understand that uncountable things we don't understand.
It is politics that demands instant gratification and claims that we understand the thing we don't understand.
