U.S. News - Lone dolphin may be victim of bullying

A lone dolphin that has spent the past five days swimming in the Bolsa Chica wetlands in Southern California may be the victim of bullying, NBCLosAngeles.com reported.

The dolphin may have been prevented from leaving the Huntington Beach nature preserve by other dolphins, Peter Wallerstein, director of Marine Animal Rescue told the Register. This would be a rare occurrence, as dolphins are social creatures that typically travel in a pod.

“He was scared, he was intimidated, he was bullied,” Wallerstein told the Los Angeles Times. Dolphins "can be very aggressive toward each other. They’re not the sweet, loving, gentle animals portrayed by the movies and the cartoons. They do have a dark side.”

Many, many years ago, my Marxist ex-sister-in-law was on a sailboat that capsized many miles outside of Miami. She and her friends started swimming to Cuba (as she reported it at the time), but soon found themselves surrounded by what they thought were sharks. When the Coast Guard rescued them, they were informed that they were in fact surrounded by dolphins protecting them from sharks. I guess dolphins are the liberals of the ocean. Sharks with their small brains and violent temperaments are the ... ah, nevermind

Some of the traits that are part of our DNA are also seen in the animal kingdom. But - because we are intelligent and civil (not animals

) it is expected that we overcome them. the more civilized amongst us pull this off and then there's that other part of our society ...

... the one's the media just loves because they help make the red meat stories.

One bad dolphin here and there can turn an election.
