McCain wants to put bases there. Obama wants more troops there. Other than the 2010 pipeline that will be built and continued through Pakistan I can't think of a reason. American troops will be fighting to secure an oil pipeline? That's not any kind of reason to be there. It was my objection to going there in 2001 ... the pipeline and a stage for Iraq. This is one time I hope Obama is talking out of his arse ... because we don't have any business there anymore.
IMO ... we have no business being there ... none. The call for troop withdrawels from Iraq should include Afghanistan. Only a multi-national force should be in Afghanistan if the U.N. deems it necessary.

Yes, so let's abandon them again, like we did during Reagan/Bush... But then, maybe we should.
In the view of the globalists, Afghanistan -- the just invasion -- can not be left to the Taliban to purge and burn the poppy fields (and they will, again)... Because drug sales (in the hundreds of billions, globally) are crucial to western economies and the seedy, under-the-table operations they pay for with drugs sales. This is all pretty well documented at this point ... Further, an argument can be made that we only went into Afghanistan to stablize the drug production there,... that, and protect the oil pipeline plans that the Taliban had suddenly rejected in 2000-2001, after previously agreeing to. Heck, the bigger question is, why are we bothering with an oil pipeline? The Caspian reserves were found to be VASTLY less than predicted in the mid to late 90s.
Meanwhile, in Iraq in 2003, oil pipelines were PRECISELY what the Bush League directed U.S. forces to secure, while ignoring most everything else that the State Department and Iraqi Ministry desperately requested be protected from looters (museums, federal records buildings, sewage plants, etc.). Thanks Mr. Bremmer, Wolfie and Donald. Thanks Boy King and Cheney, for withdrawing the smart people at State from the outset.
Yes, the agenda was clear from the start.
So really, I have to ask: Considering your party of choice's rather transparent agenda throughout all of this calamity, why are you announcing that you're actually baffled by what they do?
Or are you just miffed that Obama vows to redeploy to the only country we should have bothered with in the first place, and draw down from the one we ruined?
