Gas prices could spike 60 cents or more by May

After rising 19 cents a gallon in the past four weeks, regular unleaded gasoline now averages $3.48 a gallon, vs. $3.12 a year ago and $2.67 in February 2010.

Prices could spike another 60 cents or more by May. "I think it's going to be a chaotic spring, with huge price increases in some places," says Tom Kloza of the Oil Price Information Service. Kloza expects average prices to peak at $4.05, although he and other industry trackers say prices could be sharply higher in some markets.

Is this taking into account Deval's plan to raise the gas tax another 20-30 cents a gallon here to subsidize people riding the T?

Why would anybody be surprised. It is the logical outcome of the administrations energy policy.

You mean the policy that has domestic oil production at an eight year high? The same policy that has foreign energy consumption at a 20 year low? You mean that policy?

Is that the same one that has resulted in a 90% increase in the price of a gallon of gas since January 2009?

lets see...domestic production is UP

prices are HIGH

profits are skyrocketing for oil companies....

You realize it takes a few years for a field to come online?

Wanna check on the number of new leases? Or the drilling rigs that have elft the Gulf. Or the refusal to allow the pipeline from Canada, or the refusal to drill in AK of off the Atlantic or Pacific coast?

As to imports being at a low think decreased economic activity.
