Default Truth, lies and Afghanistan

Great job .... give Col. Davis some props ... we already knew this but it's good to see it confirmed. How many fine American soldiers dead for nothing ... such a black eye for the country. Even the right and just proclaimed cause was a sham.

Truth, lies and Afghanistan - February 2012 - Armed Forces Journal - Military Strategy, Global Defense Strategy

Quote:
Tell The Truth
When it comes to deciding what matters are worth plunging our nation into war and which are not, our senior leaders owe it to the nation and to the uniformed members to be candid — graphically, if necessary — in telling them what’s at stake and how expensive potential success is likely to be.

U.S. citizens and their elected representatives
can decide if the risk to blood and treasure is worth it.

Likewise when having to decide whether to continue a war, alter its aims or to close off a campaign that cannot be won at an acceptable price, our senior leaders have an obligation to tell Congress and American people the unvarnished truth and let the people decide what course of action to choose. That is the very essence of civilian control of the military.

The American people deserve better than what they’ve gotten from their senior uniformed leaders over the last number of years. Simply telling the truth would be a good start.

War is seldom the answer, and even less so in Afghanistan.. let them figure it out. At one time saw a stat that said something to the effect that it cost 1 million per soldier to keep them in Afghanistan for a year. That is a lot of tax money.

Surprised an active duty officer got away with writing this article.. there is a vested interest to continue the endless war by the "Masters of War".. ka ching!!!!

The other day saw some stuff on partisan web sites about how Obama was weakening the military because of the DOD cuts, and then some talking heads were talking about how their candidate would reverse what Obama had done.. it really is hopeless and nothing but pandering to the Hawk crowd.

I remember thinking of the Russians when they said we were going there. The Russians had an excellant ground fighting force ... how did it go for them? So not only was I against going there because it had Iraq written all over it but also if the Russians failed how would we succeed?

Such a waste of life and $$$ ... we could have made a deal with the Taliban and moved on. They were not very fond of Al-Qaeda either ... we could have bought them off for cheap and saved lives in the process.

Dirty Politicians, the only good thing I could see to come out of Barack Hussein Obama being elected as President Of The USA was that the wars would end but Alas, it was to much to hope for, he is just another "Bush" and all the "war protesters" of The Bush Days were really nothing but a bunch of Filthy Phonys not interested in ending the wars but Hell Bent On Getting The President They Hated "The Chimp"

Politicians:
Putrid Vile Vermin (throw garbage at them)

Bush War Protesters:
"Go hang your phony f-cking heads in shame"
