WASHINGTON - For nearly two years, a young political aide sought to cultivate a "farm system" for Republicans at the Justice Department, hiring scores of prosecutors and immigration judges who espoused conservative priorities and Christian lifestyle choices.
This particular version omits one quote I remember verbatim from reading the Post at lunch: Goodling actually asked prospective career (not political) hires at DOJ, "What about George W. Bush makes you want to serve him?"

This is outrageous, she should be prosecuted under the laws, civil service hires are very different than poitical appointees.
"Some guys play in all-star games, some guys don't. I don't know who picks all those all-star teams. In all honesty, I don't know who picks the combine, for that matter," Belichick said. "How does (Miami-Ohio offensive lineman Brandon) Brooks not get invited to the combine? How did Vollmer not get invited to the combine? I don't know. We can't really worry about that. We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."
How can anyone defend Bush's appointments/hires is beyond me.
When mentioning some of his hires, you have to begin with 'you can't make this stuff up'.
Most people have knowledge of the domestic appointments which were very scary, but then you have a situation (Iraq) where he can build a government in his own vision and you thank God that the U.S. has enforceable laws do guard against total incompetence. If you disagree with this, I'll give you an example and you can explain the logic.
