Obama confidant’s spine-chilling proposal
Cass Sunstein is the head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. He is a very scary Fascist. There was a conversation here recently about SOPA, thankfully the politicians have backed away and will be redoing that monstrosity.
Here are a couple of articles om this creep and how he would use SOPA to limit political speech.
Obama confidant's spine-chilling proposal - Cass Sunstein - Salon.com
Quote:
In 2008, while at Harvard Law School, Sunstein co-wrote a truly pernicious paper proposing that the U.S. Government employ teams of covert agents and pseudo-”independent” advocates to “cognitively infiltrate” online groups and websites — as well as other activist groups — which advocate views that Sunstein deems “false conspiracy theories” about the Government. This would be designed to increase citizens’ faith in government officials and undermine the credibility of conspiracists.
.......
So Sunstein isn’t calling right now for proposals (1) and (2) — having Government ”ban conspiracy theorizing” or “impose some kind of tax on those who” do it — but he says “each will have a place under imaginable conditions.” I’d love to know the “conditions” under which the government-enforced banning of conspiracy theories or the imposition of taxes on those who advocate them will “have a place.”
|
So for example people could be banned from challenging the government sponsored notion of Man Made Global Warming:
Regulatory Czar wants to use copyright protection mechanisms to shut down rumors and conspiracy theories | Watts Up With That?
Quote:
Suppose you are a simple public-spirited blogger, trying to expose how Michael Mann, Phil Jones, Tom Wigley, and other Team members conspire to suppress the research and destroy the careers of those who challenge their consensus views. If Sunstein gets his way, Team members will only have to issue you a takedown notice, and if you want your post to stay up, you’ll have to go to court and win a judgment that your version of events is correct.
But before the first and second batches of climategate emails were released there were only tales of retaliation, with one person’s word against another’s. Thus at the most critical juncture, when documentary proofs of The Team’s vendettas were not yet public, even a person who was willing to run Sunstein’s legal gauntlet might well have been held by a judge to be in error.
|
So to post an anti government opinion you would have the bear the expense of defending yourself in court.
Bye Bye first amendment if you hold what the GOVERNMENT decides is an 'extreme' position. What is even more chilling is that this person is on Obama's list to become a USSC Justice.
The horrible prospect of Supreme Court Justice Cass Sunstein - Salon.com
Quote:
A media consensus has emerged that the retirement of Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, the 90-year-old Ford-appointee who became the leader of the Court’s so-called “liberal wing,” is now imminent. The New York Times‘ Peter Baker has an article today on Obama’s leading candidates to replace Stevens, in which one finds this strange passage:
The president’s base hopes he will name a full-throated champion to counter Justice Antonin Scalia, the most forceful conservative on the bench. . . . The candidates who would most excite the left include the constitutional scholars Harold Hongju Koh, Cass R. Sunstein and Pamela S. Karlan.

Re: Obama confidant’s spine-chilling proposal
Obama is far and away the president who has, far above and beyond all other presidents, blatently disregarded the Constitution and our Constitutional rights while trying to impose his agenda on the country. He would do very well as an old Eastern European komissar. But not so well in a country that actually values individual freedomsm and liberties.
Don't turn around (uh oh)
Der kommissar's in the White House (uh oh)

I find it hard to understand how the people who are always yelling about freedom the constitution civil liberties and our personal rights can actually support this little wannabe dictator.

Is their any proof that Obama is going to nominate him to the the Supreme Court? All I see is speculation from journalists.

Which is usually the result of trial balloons floated to start the vetting process....
Here's one from Mother Jones, hardly a right wing site...
Obama Probably Won't Nominate Cass Sunstein to Replace Stevens | Mother Jones
His views on animal rights are somewhat scary....
