He can't help it, he has a legacy to keep going, old Joe the Rum Runner put a curse on them, thats why poor Rose (the mother) spent half her life in church with a bandanna on praying, Rose spent more time on her knees in front of a Crucifix than the Pope did especially when Old Joe and Gloria Swanson were publicly making a fool out of her.
