In a truly incredible story, a Dallas woman has located her 15-year-old granddaughter after she was mistakenly deported to the country of Colombia.
...
Jakadrien ended up being arrested for theft in Houston, and gave police a fake name. Authorities matched the name with a 22-year-old illegal immigrant from Columbia, leading to them contacting the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The ICE deported the girl in April 2011 despite not confirming her identify. The Columbian government released her and provided her a work card.
...
Jakadrien is African-American, and at the time of her deportation could not speak Spanish.

More like only in America can a person be this stupid and still yet have people feel sorry for her. One thing i do know though is this idiot will never again lie about who she really is!

Lol! Exactly.
This girl has only herself to blame for her outcome through her poor choices. For one she was a thief that was stealing, and then instead of taking her punishment responsibly she tried to lie out of it where someone else could have potentially gotten charged or mistaken down the road to where they had to deal with this mess.
Yet, we've got people who would actually feel sorry for this girl. How about not stealing and lying to the authorities. You get some bleeding heart liberal like the OP and they just want to bash the country for a problem like this. If anything our country should be bashed for not upholding our immigration laws more and deporting more criminals out of here. Theft is one of the biggest problems in this country.
Who's feeling sorry for her? I think it's funny that the process could screw up like this. After all, she's black and doesn't speak Spanish. Sure, she's a stupid girlbut at least she had the adventure of a life time and a good story to tell her grand kids someday. Maybe she learned something along the way.

Not surprising in the least. BCIS was galactically incompetent when it was INS. Sad that things haven't improved in the 10+ years since 9/11.
Six months to the day after Mohamed Atta and Marwan Al-Shehhi flew planes into the World Trade Center, the Immigration and Naturalization Service notified a Venice, Florida, flight school that the two men had been approved for student visas.
Rudi Dekkers of Huffman Aviation, where Atta, 33, and Al-Shehhi, 23, first trained in July 2000, showed the yellow INS forms to CNN during an interview Monday. Dekkers said he was surprised to get the forms at such a late date.
The INS had a different reaction.
"I think it is certainly embarrassing that the letters show up at this late date," said INS spokesman Russ Bergeron. "It does serve to illustrate what we have been saying since 1995 -- that the current system for collecting information and tracking foreign students is antiquated, outdated, inaccurate and untimely."

And yet you think the government can competently manage the economy.....

We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."
love to see folks simply blaming the 14 year old runaway
Should she have stolen? lied about her identity? of course not
But she was 14, and at any age, those things shouldn't get you deported.
The truly culpable people here are those in the various government bureaus who somehow managed to deport a US citizen. As 13 alludes to -- partly -- it's funny how many people are quick to blame, or absolve, the government when it suits their own particular views on each matter.
oh, and "tex," theft is one of the biggest problems in our country? You're kidding, right?

Theft is the biggest problem in America. Our politicians (right and left) are stealing the future of America.
